Subject: A movie making fun of soap opera's--"Soap Opera Movie!"

Written By: star500 on 05/17/08 at 9:15 pm

I think the movie studios should make a movie--call it "Soap Opera Movie" and make it in the same vein as Superhero Movie, Scary Movie and Date Movie. It would be really funny, they could make fun of the scenes in soap opera's when they make a 180 degree turn to look at the camera and extreme close ups of characters faces when they go on commercial break and stuff like that. I don't know who could be cast in it, but I'm sure the movie studios could find people. So what do you think of that idea? Does anyone think it would work? I'm just throwing it out there.

They did a movie called Soap Dish starring (as I recall) Sally Field and Whoopi Goldburg.  It wasn't over-the-top with the talking to the camera or anything but it was marginally funny.

Also Tootsie had a great soap opera scene in it.  :)

Write the script and submit it, you could get lucky.  :)

There was a movie in the early 80's called "Young Doctors In Love" which starred alot of soap actors of the day. I don't remember too much about it (plotline), but I do remember it was pretty campy.
