It seems like every hit of the past few years has had Timbaland's production, stealing, or moans in it. ;D

Yeah, but I think that the moaning trend was started by Donna Summer back in the 1970's with "Love to Love You Baby"...

I think the "Timbland sound" is mainly a 2006-2007 thing with Nelly Futado and Justin Timberlake.

Yes. If were talking about hip-hop music, the modern sound got it's beginning in the late '90s with Puff Daddy, Master P, and the like.
