We are now 90% done with the decade.

Overall, this decade sucks!

2008 was an overall okay year for me!

I totally agree.

If you really want to get technical, 2010 is the last year of the 00's.

To be quite honest, I blinked and missed it!

Apart from the fact I've become nearly ten years older in the process... :-\\

Did you guys know that every 10 years we get new body cells and its like having a new body?

Maybe that's why every decade everything changes!

Whatever, I just turned 20 and realized that I should enjoy it because in 10 years I'll be 30!

I have a feeling that 2009 will be different from the rest of the 00's, and that's a good thing! First of all, when Obama steps into the White House things are going to change, mostly for the better, with more optimism and open-mindedness, and a sense of peace. Culturally, I think there will be a back-lash against the 00's, such as anti-reality shows (The Office kind of does that, a fictional show which acts like a reality show to make fun of them). I also think the rest of the 00's will be seen as a period of materialism and commercialism (from the bling-bling glam rap artists to Hollywood celebutantes), while 2009 will begin a period of more independence and simplicity, much like the 90's were following the 80's culture. It is evident with the rising success of indie rock bands, which means there is more creative and original music on the charts and airwaves, since the newer artists and bands are about making music, rather than making money, and that's how it should be. Along with that, the celebutantes such as Paris Hilton and Lindsay Lohan will start losing popularity and publicity. Also as many mentioned that the "9" years of past decades (1999, 1989, 1979, etc.) are different from the rest of their decades, and start trends that become more popular in the early part of the following decades, and I think 2009 will be no different, therefore it will give us a glimpse of what the early 2010's will be like.

Whoa dude, or girl?

Stop there, I smell decadeology. Although I agree with you about what you are saying, please don't post anything comparing years anymore, for example: 1989 and 1999 had huge changes.

Instead of comparing "9" years, let's just say that that the feeling of the 00's is winding down.

I don't want this thread shut down! Lol.

Yeah, but I am excited about this fresh new Obama era we are in!

There is something natural and fresh about him.

Weren't we supposed to be riding in sky trams by now?  And all cities were supposed to be enclosed in gigantic glass bubbles and we were all supposed to be wearing silver colored jumpsuits with boots and own personal robots..?

When I was a kid I could definately imagine a life like Logan's Run...

I was afraid someone was going to call decadeology. I guess I should have left out about the "9" years and just left it at my point I was making.

Times change.  It's best not to dwell on it because it only gets more depressing :(
