Subject: Here's to another Crappy Valentines Day!

Written By: MrCleveland on 02/13/09 at 2:03 pm

Valentines Day is for the ones who have someone to love.

I'm sure Cat and Carlos are doing something this weekend (Sorry I had to mention your names, but I'm sure you are).

My family has a Valentine. My parents do, my younger brother and sister do, but for me that damn Cupid passed me by again.

Now I shall go to the Gas Station of Love and use Self-Serve, because I can't use full.

Actually...I'll be at a Youth Event.

Well, can I wish you a Happy Valentines Day?

You have friends here that care about you.  That matters.

Looks like Al has someone to love. *cues porno music*

I don't celebrate the holiday.  Why do I need a specific day to tell Rice how much I love him?

Here's my suggestion for those who are forced to watch the whole mushy valentine's day crap.  Besides the lotion.

Cookies - grocery stores have the best Valentine's Day Cookies.

Call your Mom (if applicable) - Mom's are good for venting to and telling how much you love them.

Photoshop pictures of the person who gave you the most heartbreak.  Please don't post them anywhere, with dumb luck the person would find them.

If I think of any more I'll let you know.

spend the evening planning revenge (don't act on it but vividly imagine all the fun things you'd do to the heartbreaker if it were legal)

personally I just pop in grand theft auto and go on rampage.....that always makes me feel better.

Happy Single Awareness Day to all my favorite single people.  I am doing something...instead of sitting at home thinking about my ex, I took Friday off, came over to visit my parents and am going to spend Val. Day cleaning their house for them.  I just knew I had to get out of town and away from all the reminders, this seemed the perfect solution.  Don't get me wrong, I am over him but it doesn't make the day easier only because it magnifies my status (hence the "Awareness").  Oh well, 24 hrs I can get through and I get to spend some quality time with my folks.

Don't want somebody to love?
Don't you need somebody to love?

If you can honestly answer NO to both questions, you shall achieve inner peace.
I'm working on it myself.

Mind you, I'm not talking about humanistic love, I'm talking about carnal love.  The myth is that you need the latter to lead a fulfilling life, the pathology is people chase it no matter how elusive it is and no matter how toxic the carnal love they find turns out to be.

They say when you're truly ready for romantic love it will come your way.  Maybe.  Mmmmaybe not.  So, since you bring up the pain of being alone on V.D., I give this unorthodox reply: It is not certain to happen to you, so don't just hang in there.  Practice enjoying its absence.

Here endeth advice I am reluctant to give.

I love my garden, I love talking on-line.  I never wanted the romantic love.  I also don't like red and white together or things that fly with arrows.  I don't think that is what any kind of love is about.  I'm thinking of the owl on Bambi when he was explaining what happens when someone becomes twiterpated.

Cupid passed me by again this year too  ::)  (have a guy friend across the pond but don't know if that's ever going to work out) So I've celebrated my singlehood by booking a few days off of work and it's been great so far! Today I went to the casino to blow some money on the slot machines but it was all fun and afterwards I decided to be nice to my sweet tooth and bought a mocha frappachino (no whip) and also bought a bag of those cherry-flavored Kisses. Also need to get my paper done by tomorrow at the absolute latest so that will keep me busy. On Sunday, I'm thinking about heading over to Seattle for two nights to treat myself to a little adventure. I love booking time off!

This may sound nuts but it worked for me.  I didn't receive a valentine for many, and I am talking many, years.  One year when I was feeling down about it I went and got a valentine and mailed it anonymously to a guy I had had a crush on for many years.  To this day he probably wonders who sent it.  It won't end the bit of hurt of not having received one, but it dulls it a bit.  Try it. Maybe send one to someone you know won't get one.

Carlos & I aren't really doing anything special this weekend. He is still recuperating for a biopsy he had last week. And it took me a LONG time before I even FOUND Carlos. I can't tell you how many years Cupid had passed me by. I thought for sure I be alone for the rest of my life-and this was when I was in my 30s. So, who knows, Cupid may come calling when you least expect it.

Before Carlos came into my life, I was with a girl friend in the supermarket. They had a two-for sale on bouquet of flowers. So, I got one for myself & one for my friend and I said REALLY loud so everyone around could hear, "Well, if no guy is going to buy me flowers, I am going to buy them for myself." I noticed that several women around me were smiling.

love usually finds you when you are not looking for it

My daughter and I went to the aquarium and we are having frozen pizza for dinner.

On the bright side, I found out they are opening a new exhibit at the aquarium at the end of the month.  As a member I will get the chance for a preview the week before.  It is a South American exhibit with piranhas.  I can't wait.

The opening prologue....one of the longest I've seen in a long time..was GREAT. It set what I thought would be the tone of the film ....butt {yes..I meant two t's in butt}like most of Michael Bay's epics...it couldn't sustain quality & had to resort to a "paint by numbers".."give the Hicks what they want"....cardboard cut out, cliche of what ignorant People think Horror Movies are....
How silly to think We'd get characters We'd even remotely care about....I'm not the type of person to spoil ...who lives & who dies...But that was the only thing surprising here.
The classic Harry Manfredini identifiable music is used sooo sparingly. It's been replaced by some nails on a blackboard,Train brakes screeching kind of sound to identify when Jason pop up....And believe Me...in DigitalDTS Sound....It gets real old, real quick....
I went in with low expectations so I should be happy that the Movie delivered exactly what I expected..
But I'll end on a good note......Friday the 13th was great.....compared to the Trailer for Last House on the Left................
