Popular teenage comic "Archie" to be made into a movie... though would end up as another horrible  movie with lame teen actors from the CW or Disney Channel...  8-P

CAA to act for Archie
Comics Publications co. signs with agency
By MICHAEL FLEMING

Archie Comics Publications has signed with CAA. The agency will seek to create branded entertainment opportunities in film and TV in much the way that it has for toymaker Mattel.
The 70-year-old Archie Comics owns such brands as Archie & Friends, Sabrina the Teenage Witch, Josie and the Pussycats, Cosmo the Merry Martian, Super Duck and Dotty and Ditto.

The Archie Comics pact comes as Hollywood is quickly gobbling up established branded properties, as evidenced by Disney's pending acquisition of Marvel Entertainment and Warner Bros.' recent exec overhaul of DC Comics.

Talent agencies have also been catalysts in matching branded properties with studios. CAA helped set up Mattel's "Major Matt Mason" property as a starring vehicle for Tom Hanks. WME has done strong business for its client Hasbro, which just set an adaptation of its board game "Battleship" for a July 2011 release with Peter Berg directing (Daily Variety, Sept. 18).

Or it may not turn out to be, not half bad of a film.

Its not the first time the Riverdale gang has been brought to live action in 1990 there was a TV movie called Archie: To Riverdale and Back Again

obviously they are capitalizing on the recent discussion about Archie's (very wrong)  decision to marry veronica.

Archie belongs with 'nice girl' Betty (who I had a crush on too)... ::)

It was already made into a movie years ago.  It was called 'To Riverdale and Back Again' and starred Christopher Rich as Archie

I wouldn't mind a better version of "Josie & The Pussycats", though now is not the good time... (would've been better if done in the early/mid '80's with the likes of The Go-Go's or Bangles)

It was also an Old Time Radio show, for almost 10 years.

Occasionally those that have Sirius or XM can catch it on the OTR station.  I have heard it there a few times.

And I do not have a problem with a movie, as long as it is made well.

And for a cast, I just wish this was made 20 years ago.  This would have been a perfect vehicle for the "Brat Pack".  However, with today's youth (which I admit I do not know much about), these might be some of my choices.

Veronica:  Emily Osment
Betta:  Emma Roberts
Archie:  Logan Lerman
Forsythe:  Liam Aiken
The Bee:  Richard Dreyfus
Pop Tate:  John Goodman

It's another reason to have the tweens in a band....will they be singing?  I love the band addition cuz then you have more media to sell....

The only way they could possibly make a good live-action version of Archie would be if it was a porno flick.  ;D

She is far more preferable.
