Written By: MaxwellSmart on 02/10/10 at 9:32 pm

I didn't know about this until I heard somebody kvetching about it on another message board.

I don't think he can say Malcolm McLaren put him up to this one!

From wiki:

"In late 2008 Lydon appeared in an advertising campaign for Country Life, a popular brand of butter, on British television. Lydon was widely mocked as a sell-out for this move. The advertising campaign proved to be highly successful, with sales of the brand raising 85% in the quarter following, which many in the media attributed to Lydon's presence in the advert."

I was just as surprised when I saw it on the television, lol. John Lydon entered Celebrity Big Brother before the advert so I considered that the beginning of the end (he attributed his entrance to a love of nature and wildlife), the advert was merely the nail in the coffin. Personally, I don't think there is anything wrong with it as long as Lydon doesn't spout off his anti-establishment rhetoric again.

He might.  And you'd say, "What a wanker!"

And Johnny would say,

"F**k you, you're the sodding wankers!"

And that's the story of his career!

Yes, back in 1998. He was suing a club manager or another musician (can't remember which). Maybe you can find it on youtube.

You have a point, lol. John Lydon talks a 'good' game (putting it loosely) but that's pretty much it.

He won.  I think Judge Judy liked him because they both got nasty mouths and don't mince words.
