Subject: Most notable albums of the 2000s

Written By: Brian06 on 03/24/10 at 5:22 am

Not necessarily by sales or chart position but the most notable imo. Not listing any artist twice and favoring the albums that are generally remembered the most. I did my best to narrow it the best I could and I ended up with these 15. Any comments on these 15 choices and alternative opinions?

American Idiot - Green Day
Get Rich or Die Dying - 50 Cent
Hybrid Theory - Linkin Park
Tha Carter III - Lil Wayne
Toxicity - System of a Down
From Under The Cork Tree - Fall Out Boy
The Fame - Lady GaGa
The Blueprint - Jay-Z
Dangerously In Love - Beyonce
The Marshall Mathers LP - Eminem
Confessions - Usher
Speakerboxx / The Love Below - Outkast
Breakaway - Kelly Clarkson
College Dropout - Kanye West
Viva la Vida - Coldplay

Not my particular taste, but the list sounds credible enough.

I would've liked to have seen Keane in there and John Mayer's "Room For Squares".

That list is pretty much perfect; I'd definately have American Idiot as number 1.

I also just might consider adding Stadium Arcadium by the Red Hot Chili Peppers. It was really popular in 06 and spawned a handful of hits.

I would probably add:

L.A.M.B. - Gwen Stefani
Monkey Business - Black Eyed Peas
The Dutchess - Fergie
Good Girl Gone Bad - Rihanna
Timbaland Presents Shock Value
Playing With Fire - Kevin Federline (just joking about that one, lol)

Good selection bro.  I remember how much of a big deal it was when Green Day was putting out an album.  I would like to also add that Kanye West made a huge impact in the rap industry and was one rapper that didn't start out in the 90's, which is impressive(I would also say Lil Wayne, but I do vaguely remember him being a video with Juvenile around 99/00 or so).

I did have LAMB though it didn't make my the final 15 cut. Actually when I started thinking about all the albums that were significant I first had a huge list that I knew was going to end up at 50 or more items and I didn't want to list that many albums so I settled on a smaller list. Rihanna I struggled with since I think she's more known for singles than albums, but there is no denying her importance.
