I'll go with 'other'. In terms of natural disasters...both the Indian Ocean Tsunami (2004) and the more recent Haiti earthquake claimed approximately 230,000 lives (each). Basically, earthquakes cause the most lives lost (as they also cause Tsunamis).
Politically the Gulf War is pretty bad...with 9/11 having the greatest impact (simply because it happened in the most affluent and powerful western country). In terms of lives lost it pales in significance though.
Interestingly, 250,000 die annually across the world from seasonal influenza...

I vote the 2004 tsunami. It was one of the worse disasters I've ever seen! :-\\

2004 Indonesian tsunami, it looked pretty bad from the footage recording the event.
