2000 was just another year for me, but I loved the energy of the year that year. It still had that 'millenial/late 90s/internet' feel to it!

My personal life in the first part of the 00s was so different from my life in the late part.

For me it was 2000, 2004, and 2008. I don't know why, but as far back as I can remember the years that have the summer olympics and presidential elections have always been good. Same with 2012.

2006 or 2007. Probably 2006 all around.

I guess another good year would have to be in 2007 when I started Pathmark and a union plus with the help of my job coach he led me to keep and obtain my job for almost 6 years now. :)

2009 was good in its own way but was also the worst year of my life.

In all honesty, 2000.  It was the last full year of childhood, so I remember it quite fondly.  2001, the second half, was childhood's end.  Late 2001 to 2003 just plain sucked in my personal life.  Things improved in 2004.

That said, the best years of my life didn't start until the second half of 2010.  From then up until the end of 2012 was a ton of new experiences, both good and bad, and a very memorable time in my life.  2013 up until a few days ago was a "swing year."  As my first year out of college (December 2012 graduate, Super Senior and a half due to a one year study abroad), it could have been either great or horrible.  I just found two days ago that I scored my dream job of teaching English in Japan, so it looks like 2013 will go as another good year and I'll be spending the mid-2010s in Japan.

2002 I'd guess. I just started college and was just basically being a lazy bum...but it was fun. Almost felt like I was on a year long vacation after high school.

Quite frankly, I was an impulsive teenager in the 00s. Most of the decade was pretty bad, minus the year 2000. In a way it's great not to 'peak' in my life yet and to have it unfold slowly. Although I'm not going to make the same mistakes I did when I was a teenager.

I'd have to go with 2000. The rest of the decade pretty much sucked for me.....especially 2006 and 2007. This started to get better around 2008 though

Either 04 or 08. 04 was just such a smooth and enjoyable year. 08 was exciting and started the new chapter of my life.

the best thing I can say for me is that before I went deaf in 2003 I was going to junior college and got to get away from my mom.  Didn't seem to last too long though before I wen't deaf.  That's my best so far.

AI agree about 11. But 13-14 is like semi-adulthood. A lot of people lose their virginity before 15 and get pregnant at 13-15. A lot of people work in middle school and junior high. In fact a lot of people are more productive at that age than at 18-26, when you still don't have enough experience, but you've lost your street smarts because of college/university and giving too much a damn about politics and watching the news.

2000, was last great year without parents watching news all the time, sadness, and boredom due to 9/11, Late 90s culture was still going strong, finished my first year of school.

X-men disappointed me when my brother got in home video in 2001, I thought it was going to be like the cartoon, where they had their costumes, etc, didn't grow to like this movie until years later, I missed out because I didn't like the lack of costume in cartoons.

Remember when Scary Movie came out on PPV(still have the video recording), this may have been in 2001.

What a time it was. got my first WCW action figuresof Sting and DDP in Christmas. Rugrats in Paris, recall Disney stuff, watched alot of TV in 2000, in my home videos when I see January 2000 then December I gained weight. I believe I was done with my Ricky Martin 1998-1999 craze(unless I liked "She Bangs", don't remember)

NSYNC/Britney Spears craze in 2000, Valentines day 2000, Kindergarten Graduation, Cousin Sweet 16, Christmas 2000. Blockbuster PS1 and VHS still going strong.

2000 really should be catagorized with the late 90s, what a year, ranks with 1998, 1999 also my brother would turn 13 in 2001, so last full year of him being a kid.

In general, the early 00's (2000-2002/2003) brings back a lot of the best memories. It was pretty much my pre-teen years. If I had to pick my fave at the moment, it would be 2001, pre-9/11. I have so much fondness for the summer of that year, especially those last few weeks prior to 9/11 which I remember oh so clearly. Still got love for the other years though. I remember being so excited Jan. 1st, 2000 about being in a new millennium (and surviving Y2K!). I went to Disneyland that spring for the first time and I also started "middle school" that year. Loved the summer of 2002 because I went to Disney World for the first time (haven't been back since!) and enjoyed a lot of what was on the radio back then. Didn't travel summer of 2003, but that year brings back memories of going to the movies, burning CDs, my birthday party and hanging with close friends that I've since sadly grown apart from.

2004 was a fond year for me. Learned how to swim, hanging with my friends in 3rd grade while playing Pokemon Ruby and all the other GBA hits

2008- graduated from elementary school, finally moving on the next stage of my life.

But if i had a specific time, it would be the early 2000s because those were my younger kid years. Those were the days where all I did was play. PS2 all day, me and my friends playing GBA with the link cable and kickball in the street.  no worries about ACT and college, no real life problems.

Every year during the 00's were the best for me, for I was happy to be living and breathing!

If I could go back to 2005-2006 I would in a heartbeat. Not as I am now, but to relive everything! I was 25-26 years young, I still had my gorgeous long hair back then which I miss :\'( I pretty much lived the "good life", and I was young and free and it wasn't like being young like a teenager when everything is awkward and just weird...being young in my 20s was sooo much better! 8)

I mentioned before the early 2000s were best for me.  Up until 2004 life was good.  Then it went downhill.  In 2008 things were looking up but by the end of 2009 the downhill part started again.

Every year had it's good and bad moments but the ones that stand out for me are...
2004/2005: Graduated High School, entered college, got drivers license,
2009: Graduated College, started comedy career in NYC

For me it was 2004. I had a lot of friends, had my first kiss, and I still listen to a lot of music from that year.

2002 and 2005 would tie for runner up. Halfway through 2006 was when things got crappy though (and didn't get better until around 2010).

2001, I was a teenager in what seemed like an exclusive Island of Misfit Toys as a school, had several gal-pals and two great male friends at the time, lots of high-speed ski biscuit rides on several different lakes (a sea biscuit is a circular towable rubber raft intended for use on lakes and rivers with a pleasurecraft boat), lots of fun in my life, my grandpa Massengill was still alive and enjoyed talking about World War II and many other things (died of stroke complications at the age of 84 on December 1st)

For me, it's got to be 2000. I was 8 then, and I was enrolled in one of those "learn at your own pace" private schools, so school was a breeze. I had absolutely no worries. I played with my friends, watched TV (Nickelodeon and Cartoon Network were both excellent back then), and that was the first year I really "graduated" from listening to Christian/super clean music chosen by my parents, to listening to the music I wanted to listen to. I loved *NSYNC, Britney Spears, and Hanson; and when my parents weren't looking, I would watch some of the more "adult" music videos on MTV. It was just the best year of my childhood.

2004 was also great for me, but the reasons have little to do with pop culture. Personal reasons. The end of 2004 marked the end of my childhood era, and from then on it was all teen stuff.

The early 2000's I was in elementary school. 2005-2009 I was in high school. I think 2005-2006 were the best for me. 2009 was the year I graduated high school and honestly my senior year wasn't that great. The economy tanked right at the start of my senior year so it kinda sucked.

2005-2006. 4th grade, as I was moving into a new state, I was starting to get invested into youth culture (watching MTV and tween/teen shows on Nick/Disney Channel as an example ;D). Toonami's epic saturday night lineup (not to mention Avatar, Suite Life of Zack & Cody, Drake & Josh, etc. etc.) with shows like Naruto, DBZ uncut, and IGPX. Great musical albums from the decade (Mariah Carey's Emancipation of Mimi and Green Day's American Idiot, not to mention songs like Gold Digger, Hollaback Girl, Ridin', etc.). The peak in my gaming interest for the 6th generation between my Playstation 2, my Gameboy Advance, and my GameCube (Xbox at friends/relatives houses). I could go on and on, but 2005-2006 is the most 'Noughties' you can get, in all of the right reasons 8). Entering into my double-digits during this time period was also a big plus!

^ Yours was the exact same as mine. I started Karate in summer 2005 and stayed there for 3 years before getting my black belt. It was the first full year I had my XBOX and played epic games for that such as Need For Speed Underground 2, Crash Bandicoot: Wrath of Cortex, Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas, and much more. I got a Nintendo DS around the time (2006) and played tons of epic games for that such as Mario Kart DS, New Super Mario Bros, Super Mario 64 DS, Star Fox Command, and much more. I made the most friends in elementary school throughout 4th grade. Like you said, CN/Toonami on Saturday nights were epic (and I even liked Miguzi too for the action). Jetix on Toon Disney and Disney Channel peaked in 2005. I had the best summer of my childhood in 2006 with YMCA camp, Savannah, Disney World, Georgia Aquarium, and my first family reunion.

2007 definitely. I remember having so much fun that year hanging out with my friends, watching Disney Channel, Cartoon Network, Nickelodeon, etc. Summer was awesome because I went to Jamaica for vacation plus I got to go the beach a lot that year as well. That is definitely a year that I will never forget.

2002/2003 - Was pretty important to me. Met a lot of really cool people, fell in love, moved for a little while to a big city and left heartbroken but learned a lot. Also got really into video games and music during that time period. Every time I go back to visit those old stomping grounds I get extremely emotional.

I think I hit my prime between 2004-2006 though lol.

2006-2010

2007 is a popular year for many. While pop culture sucked, everyone's personal life seemed to all coincidently go great that year including mine lol. Best year of the decade by far for me.

Summer '04, Disneyland, Watching Mean Girls in Theaters, Graduated from Middle School in June and Started High School in September.

2000: Pre school (Good times, chuck e cheese, Britney Spears, Adults wearing overalls, NICKELODEON, Movie theaters, Disneyland, etc).

2001: Pre-K (Same sheesh as 2000 but my memories were more clear and I got my first bike. By late 2001 I knew how to ride without training wheels. Still have the vid on VHS).

2002: Kindergarten (Got a PS2 and gameboy advance for my birthday, lost my first tooth in kindergarten, Went to go see Blade 2 with my dad, got my first Hamster)

2003: First Grade ( I loved the cheetah girls, went to the YMCA, went to a ton of amusement parks, went on my first upside down coaster, made a ton of friends.)

2004: same shot as 2003

2005: went to disney’s 50th anniversary (good year).

2006-2009: my best friend moved and parents divorced. Life didn’t feel as magical as it did in the early 2000’s and pop culture sucked imo

This is the year where I entered my twenties and had an amazing time in college and working as well.

It's hard to say, but my best candidate would be 2005.  After hitting my weight loss goal early in the year (I'd started in 2004) I was able to have some really good times throughout the year.  One highlight was attending this awesome event:

I also enjoyed a family cruise that summer and many other fun events.  BTW work was pretty interesting that year, too.

2002. I started first grade, got the Internet, discovered Toonami, and other cool things happened. Yeah, that's all there is to say...

2007. Went to see Linkin Park at the Sydney Entertainment Centre, got a $350 drum kit and MP4 for Christmas, went to see both "The Simpsons Movie" and "Transformers" at the cinemas. Not to mention the fact that I fell in love for the first time, I got my labrador Sally in October that year and I also became friends with my closest friend (who I am still friends with, 13 years on). I also liked the music of the time, even if it was the peak of emo. Great time to have been 8 years old!
