Teen pop like that remained popular into 2004, or least where I live it did.

That was a Bubblegum Pop era.

I'm from Oregon (lived there from '96 to '03), and I lived in Texas until '06.
Keep in mind I did spend the early-to-mid 00s listening to Radio Disney.

Keep in mind certain places like Oregon and Texas don't follow trends as closely the same way places like New York or LA do.
I also remember groups like Jump 5 being popular among preteens through 2004.

That doesn't change the fact that certain groups or singers remain more popular over time in certain regions. I knew girls who were crazy about NSYNC and Backstreet Boys even after they broke up.

I loved that song a lot back then. Didn't this song and/or the music video come out in 2002 though? Teen pop didn't completely die off in 2001. I'd say it was still on life support in 2002, esp. the 1st half of that year.

Teen pop still had a little breath in 2001, and even in the first half of 2002. By the middle of the year though it was dead!

In America the teen pop era was 1997-2002. With its popularity 1997 to 2000. Especially its peak in 1999/2000.

I remember Nsync's 'Girlfriend' song playing in early 2002. And another song 'Never had a dream come true' by S club 7, out in early 2002.

That Girlfriend song was like a remix with Nelly and produced by Pharrell and sounds like a typical 2002 urban pop song, it's NSYNC but it's not really part of the teen pop era to me it's a total urban pop song. It's like saying "I'm A Slave 4 U" is a teen pop song, that's urban pop. I don't think 9/11 has anything to do with music trends either, the teen pop stuff was already on the wane earlier in 2001. I'm pretty sure that S Club 7 song is from 2001. 2002 was a year dominated by urban, post grunge and pop punk basically. To me that whole late '90s style teen pop died around the spring-summer of 2001. Teen pop was just some short lived fad.

Teen pop's last big year was definitely 2001, though I don't think 9/11 had anything to do with the change.  From then and through most of the decade, urban pop was what was in vogue, although there were a number of urban pop artists just as if not more corny that the teen pop stars:

And ... ?

Point being, even though some teen pop acts, like Jump5, lasted well into the decade, for the most part, teen pop was on the decline in 2001, and was pretty much quieted by mid-2002.

PS- Warped, I'm probably not "supposed" to do this, per se, but might I ask, how was my earlier post "starting an argument"? All I did was state a point that's been made by several others in this thread. You know the rules better than I - is there an unspoken rule that says that a new member cannot disagree with an older one, lest they be labeled a "troll"?

I remember watching the music video and her VMA performance of the song back in 2001. It used to be crazy popular at the time.
