What year of the 2000s had the best Culture/Music?

Tell me why based on personal and collective views.

I would say 2004, minus all of the crappy rap, there were a lot of good pop/rock hits that year.

2000 IMO.

Probably because it was very influential being 13/14.

To me 2000 just felt like a watered down 1999. It's not that it was a bad year in music, but it was somewhat bland.

2000 was great. '99-'01 was somewhat one era and quite similar in terms of music that came out.

Hmmm, I'm not sure. I think the early and mid 2000s are really good years for pop culture and music, but for me it's either 2000, 2003, and 2006. I think 2000 had better music than 1999 as opposed to what XYKid says, but I also feel 2003 and 2006 delivered some very memorable hits. I mean, 2000 did too, but '03 and '06 especially. I love how 2000 was upbeat, optimistic, and happy. It's charm was kinda childlike in nature, and I like that. 2003 and 2006 both delivered some awesome pop rock and hip hop songs so I don't know what to say. 2000 and 2003 were awesome years for video games too, in my opinion they were the best ones. When it comes to movies, I'd say 2004 (Mean Girls!). When it comes to TV, it's a tie between 2000 and 2002 as Survivor debuted in 2000 and American Idol debuted in 2002 with their amazing first seasons. Fashion, I honestly think 2000-early 2007 was pretty much the same, although the style evolved, the basic clothes changed little throughout those years. In the end I'm kinda indecisive.

I'd say anything from 2001-20005 were the best years for music. Alot of songs I liked were produced then.

2004, 2005 and 2006. Those years are the definition of 2000's culture. 2000-2001 had way too much pop 8-P (britney, n'sync, madonna, destiny's child, backstreet boys, christina aguilera, etc). I think 04-06 had more variety in terms of movies, music, fashion and videogames, and rock and hip hop were more prevalent than pop.  8)

Oh, okay. Well, the rock was good, but the R&B and Hip-Hip songs I find to be better in 2000, as well as there being no pop whatsoever, and I really liked the pop songs of 2000. I like a bunch of genres. Look at these two links:

http://longboredsurfer.com/charts/2000
http://longboredsurfer.com/charts/2001
2001 was a good year for rock music, but it had little to no variety, as opposed to 2000. 2001 had rock, hip hop, r&b, and country. Whereas 2000 had r&b, teen pop, rock, hip hop, country, country pop, and dance pop. It was just a more interesting year for me.

2009 hands down.  It had the right balance of hip-hop and good, fun dance music.  2008 is a close follow-up, though it looses points because there was still too much ringtone rap and post grunge.

I'd have to say 2000-2004 for me with the acception of 2009, being younger then I guess I didn't appreciate music so much but my dad would have the radio blasted in our townhouse (I felt bad for our neighbours) with all the latest hits playing... 2001 for video games (Super Smash Bros. Melee, Pokémon Crystal, Zelda Oracles, Conker's Bad Fur Day, SSX Tricky, Sims House Party + Hot Date, the first American port of Dance Dance Revolution, as well as 5th and 6th Mix in the arcades), 2002 for music (The Eminem Show, Yoshimi Battles the Pink Robots, Utada Hikaru's Deep River, generally memorable pop hits), and probably 2004 for film (based mostly on Dodgeball, as the 2000s aren't my favorite decade for movies).

It was so epic then it would blow your mind! 2004-2006 were the best years of the 2000's decade for video games and other gaming with 6th generation games and mixing it up with 5th generation games along with that, because it was the last major time in our lives online wasn't as relevant yet and doing multiplayer games at home with your friends & family was still popular.

Eh, hold up, actually in that case I'd have to go with the early 2000's, and why, because from the start of 2000-mid 2001 9/11 hadn't happened yet and then it was much simpler times then. Plus, Bill Clinton was still president for one more year throughout 2000, and the Iraq War didn't even start until 2003, so throughout most of the early 2000's that wasn't around yet it was still much simpler times lifestyle wise because of the events and wars of the core 2000's that didn't occur yet plus all the 90's culture that still spilled over throughout the early 2000's was still alive and relevant, until 2004. So politically and lifestyle wise the early 2000's was definitely the best other than those tragic events. 2000-mid 2001 being the most simplest times. Late 2001-2003 still being simple times but transitional periods when 00's culture overtook 90's culture. By 2004, things got more technological advanced in our lives, however, I'd still take the mid-2000's lifestyle over the late 2000's onto today.

What about 9/11? One little tower falling down in one country doesn't greatly affect the rest of the world in significant ways. I'd say life was simple until the recession, but then you could say the early 90s recession killed innocence, too. I remember how safe and secure the government made Canada feel during the 00s, we really believed we were immune to terrorist attacks. That was until the parliament incident you might've heard about.

For me personably being 9-11 during the mid 00s it was just a grey time for met personally. I was not talking culturally! And if you're talking culturally then the very early 00s 2000- August 2001 was the best politically and lifestyle wise!

Yeah man, despite that tragic attack on the Twin Towers, ignoring the political/world events of 2001. In terms of pop culture hands down give 2001 where credit is due. 2001 was like the year the true early 2000's culture took off which imo as a kid the true early 2000's was a really great time. The transition from 5th generation to 6th generation gaming was huge with the Gamecube, XBOX, Playstation 2, and Gameboy Advance. Movies like The Fast & the Furious, Harry Potter, Shrek, Monster's Inc, Lord of the Rings, Spy Kids, Jurassic Park 3, and tons more. IMO 2001 was like the ultimate peak of early 2000's television whether it's The WB, UPN, ABC, FOX, PAX, TBS, Food Network, etc. IMO 2001 was the year kids channels like Nickelodeon, Cartoon Network, Disney Channel, Kids WB, and Toon Disney hit its peak all combined including a bunch of shows premiering that year in all of those channels. Not sure on how 2001 was for music lol, but 2001 was the 1st year in my lifetime my memories become vivid and clear.

I can't nail it to one year. I'd say between 2000-2004. Music was hot, Sisqo with the Thong Song, Missy Elliot, Aaliyah, may she rest in peace, Usher was at his Zenith, Destiny's Child was still together, Britney hadn't had her breakdown yet, so on and so forth. It was a good time. I spent EVERY DAY glued to TRL and dancing my butt off. LOL.

Any year from 2000-2006 really. But my all time favorites would be:

2003: For being in the peak of my childhood and some of the best pop cultural and personal moments in that epic year. Cartoon channels were boss, I would watch TRL with my older sisters after school, playing YuGiOh and Pokemon cards with my friends, going to the Georgia to see family, getting a Discman that year, playing PS1/GB Color and eventually getting PS2/GBA later in the year. It was just a kickass year!

2004: For my personal life, I went to Georgia and Orlando in the same summer, I would play with the kids in my neighborhood all the time! It was great for movies and music as well, although cartoon channels like Cartoon Network & Nickelodeon were starting to change (for the worst...)

2006: For my personal life (probably my favorite year for my personal life in general) but entertainment wise it was meh...

2003 hands down was the best year of my core kid years in pop culture sense. Everything I did throughout that year. The Lego toys I built, the Planet Hot Wheels website, CD's, & cars! Cartoon Network/Toonami/SVES was DOPE af matter of fact Summer 2003 Cartoon Network was the best thing they ever did looking back. Not to mention catching the premieres of Teen Titans and Duck Dodgers that year. Nickelodeon & Toon Disney still in its prime as well. Disney Channel had a really great year too with the premiere of That's So Raven with shows like Even Stevens, Lizzie McGuire, Proud Family, and Kim Possible still going hard including reruns of Sister Sister & Smart Guy. Movies like Pirates of the Caribbean, Finding Nemo, Spy Kids 3: Game Over, Elf, X-Men 2, Lord of the Rings (Finale), 2 Fast 2 Furious, etc. By mid/late 2004 even when I was only 8 I was already missing 2003 (last year at the time), no joke.

Lol same but I loved 2004 as well so it made up for it. 2005 & 2006 (especially the later) were kickass years as well (for my personal life that is, but some of the music at the time was amazing though). In 2007 I already missed 2002-2006. Now I'm 19 and I miss my entire childhood, heck even when I was 3/4 years old during the turn of the millennium.

Like I said before 2004 especially that summer was real fun for me. Hanging out with cousins several nights. Going out of the country to Jamaica for my aunt's wedding and it was awesome. Going to Sarasota, FL again was great as well. Getting an XBOX during Christmas that year. Much more to it but 2004 was a fun year for my family. Your life doesn't have to be revolved around pop culture, your personal life and family gatherings can make it great as well!

Some of your family members are Jamaican? Cool. How many times have you visited Jamaica?
