Subject: did the early 00s pop culture seem the most upbeat of the whole 2000s??

despite the war/9-11 the 2000-2003 era pop culture  seemed  little more upbeat and happy compared the late 2000s (and to a certain extent the mid-2000s) did it seem that way to anyone else??

No, I think the mid 00's (2004-2007) seemed the most upbeat, imo.

I don't mean to be insensitive but 9/11 did not really cloud pop culture as 2002 progressed and neither did it make much of an impact during that era on music. It was a tragic event, but perhaps music felt coincidentally darker pre and post the incident. I remember the t.A.t.u music video "All the Things She Said" and Christina Aguilera's "Dirrty". Eminem's "Cleaning Out My Closet" and "Lose Yourself" any one? GTA III (Liberty City), 8 Mile, Lord of the Rings, Harry Potter, Michael Jackson's midlife crisis - just to name a few.

I enjoyed music more between 2004-2007, the popularised urban sound etc. I always associate those years with the summer, brightness, glamour. It had a relaxed, chill vibe. Reflecting on the early 2000s and the dismal theme of 2008-9, '04-07 were truly and undoubtedly the best years of the decade.

I forgot the Matrix but that was '99/'03, it had a early 2000s feel to it anyway. That sh*t was DARK!

Going from child to teen during that decade.. Here were my thoughts on which years were the best for entertainment!!

Early 2000s= Pop culturally( gaming,music,TV,cartoons,films)
Mid 2000s= Politically and lifestyle wise
Late 2000s= sports.... That is ALL

2008 and 2009 were the most upbeat years of the '00s musically in my opinion.  I am thinking of songs like "I've Got A Feeling" by the Black Eyed Peas, "Live Your Life" by Rihanna, and everything by Lady Gaga or Ke$ha.

Chris, In all honesty.... It was to escape the dark times that were going on in the real world. Jsut like how campy music got in the late 70s.

I don't really think so. The whole decade has kind of a bubble gum vibe to it honestly.
