I prefer the early 2000s, with the exception of the Office, which in my opinion was better than anything the early '00s had to offer.

Supernatural in the late '00s was fun...for the first few seasons. Other than that, I'd choose the former.

I'm not sure, I like both periods for television. The former had Buffy, Dawson, Sabrina, Daria, and Roswell, as well as Degrassi: The Next Generation when it was actually good and they made interesting plots, but the latter had nice shows as well.

Shows I haven't watched, but I want to see are The O.C., Smallville, and 7th Heaven. There are more, but I can't remember what else.

I also really like Veronica Mars, which belongs to both, but it started to suffer during that last season. My mom and my brother watch Supernatural, but I don't pay attention to it. Jared and Jensen really need a shave and a haircut.

Definitely the former as it was before I knew of Youtube and how online video would make TV no longer the must-see place for audiovisual content and entertainment. Yes, the number of channels had started to grown tremendously, but of course in addition to some popular mid-late '90s shows still on, the concept of reality TV was fresh and not tiresome. It was also the last time that TV was not predominantly HD, similar in a way to 1960-65 TV still being black & white, with a few hints of color such as on NBC.

While I definitely prefer TV from the '80s and '90s, I'd still be keen on watching SOME earlier '00s TV. Even VH1 still played a few videos, TV Land still played classic TV shows, Game Show Network mostly played classics and Wheel of Fortune/Jeopardy; cartoons were still mostly 2D, there were 10 daytime soap operas on the air, Nickelodeon, while not as good as the '90s, wasn't all Spongebob all the time (especially before the movie), and you could still record shows via VHS before digital became mandatory in 2009. Finally, the graphics weren't as frequently "Adobey" or "Photoshoppy" in commercials as they've been since around 2006, and there was more variety in products.

(insert name of TV show)Part 1, Part 2, Part 3 and so on, each 10 minutes max. Watching TV shows online in the '00s was a pain the more I think about it. And don't even get me started on the slow internet.

I was only 9-12 so I remember this time period more than the early-mid 2000s

Also the Disney Channel shows from the early 00s are way better than Hannah Montana and its ilk.

About 2006-2009, TV declined greatly! Many Network(NBC,FOX,ABC) shows had ended, The kids networks had become atrocious 8-P, The writers strike, etc. The only good thing on TV was sports.(Super Bowl 42 and 43 FTW!! :D) I feel Network TV was NEVER the same after the strike!

Yeah I was wondering about that as well. Pre-Lost or the Friends 2000s (2000 - early 2004) is different from the Lost or the post-Friends 2000s (late 2004 - 2009) for sure.

I loved 2005-2009 in TV. I didn't watch any TV in the early 2000s though, so I mostly caught that on reruns and downloading. Early 2000s shows felt more simplistic, while the production values and plots in the late 2000s rivalled that of movies.

The early 2000s had some shows that were like the mid-late 2000s. But I think they were mostly on HBO, so it wasn't prevalent for broadcast or basic cable networks until 2003 or 2004 at least.

2000-2005 by a mile!!! ::) it featured A LOT of 90s holdovers and some classic 00s series :D; The West Wing, JAG, OZ, NYPD Blue, The Sopranos, Six Feet Under, Firefly, Judging Amy, Roswell, Spin City, Touched by Angel, The Practice, Malcolm in the Middle, What I like About you, Everybody Loves Raymond, Bernie Mac Show, One on One, Angel, Buffy, Dawson's Creek, Everwood,The Guardian, Alias, Will and Grace, Friends, Fraiser, 7th Heaven, That 70 Show, Charmed, Sex and the City,Star Trek Enterprise, Alias, Mutant X, My Wife and Kids, Grounded for life,8 Simple Rules, Reba, Lizzie McGuire.

2006-2009 was pretty mediocre overall if you think about. 2006-07 season was good but after the writers strike TV went DOWNHILL and took years before it recovered. Network TV hasn't been the same and will never be the same unfortunately. :\'( >:(
This era started off strong, but declined SEVERELY.
It mostly had; LOST, Desperate Housewives, The L Word, Grey's Anatomy, Bones, The Office, Criminal Minds, Everybody Hates Chris, Prison Break, Supernatural, Ghost Whispers, Weeds, Numbers, 30 Rock, Heroes, Hannah Montana,The Game, Friday Night Lights, Private Practice, Dirty Sexy Money, Mad Men,Brothers and Sisters, Burn Notice, The Bill Engvall Show, New Adventures of Old Christine, Till Death, Big Love.

What about Breaking Bad, or The Wire?

Most people would disagree with you about TV declining. They say we've been in a "new golden age" of television, overall, since the late 00s. :P Kids shows aren't all of television.

Breaking Bad came near the VERY end of the decade and The wire's run was inbetween both periods. So they didn't make the cut.

IMO, The new golden age of TV started in the early 10s, not the late 00s.  Late 00s kinda sucked for TV., thanks to dat writer's strike. And dude.... of course I know that children's TV isn't everything. Hell, I didn't even mention it in my previous post. ;D

So... crap like Breaking Bad, Mad Men, True Blood, The Wire, and Lost weren't that great, even when a lot of people liked them during the late 2000s? I know it's subjective, but come on. Also, the Writers strike was only around from November 2007 to February 2008, so it wasn't even a big portion of the late 2000s.

Like I said before Breaking Bad and even True Blood came out when the decade was NEARLY done with. So I'm choose not to include it. I associate them more with the early 10s.
Mad Men, Dexter, The Office,HIMYM, 30 Rock, and Bones were phenomenal.... But they were the only ones I truly enjoyed during the era.
And after the writers strike, it feels like a lot of TV went downhill after. LOST and Heroes noticeable declined after the strike.

I beg to differ. Not trying to be objective over these shows, but they still got a lot of positive attention from the fans, even after the Writer's Guild strike.

And after the writers strike, it feels like a lot of TV went downhill after. LOST and Heroes noticeable declined after the strike.

I agree, Breaking Bad lasted from 2008-2013, and the show had the MAJORITY of its popularity during our high school years, so it's an early 2010's show IMO.

Overall I will say 2000-2005. This applies to both Network TV and Cable. During the 2000-05 you had Malcolm in the Middle, King of Queens, Family Guy's best seasons, The Simpsons wasn't great as it was in the 90s but still decent and watchable (I'm a season 1-10 guy after that it slowly goes down hill), Spongebob's best seasons, Gundam Wing, G Gundam, Dragonball Z, Pokemon was still good (I quit watching 03 or so), The Shield, The Soprano's, Fraiser, Spin Ci, The Drew Carey Show, Digimon and my personal favorite Titus (in my opinion the most underrated sitcom of all time. Fox canceled at it's peak because they thought it was too edgy).

However, 2006-2009 had some good shows. My parents were early fans of Cable dramas so by 07-08 I had pretty much stopped watching network TV. (Save for Family Guy and the Office) but I preferred cable shows like Monk, Psych, Burn Notice, Battlestar Galactica and Leverage during this era (it's a shame none of these shows ever became super mainstream but most had a loyal cult following). Most people I knew in real life were more into Lost and Criminal Minds during this era.

Regarding South Park. It's hard to say which era I like it best. I depends on my mood at the time.

To be fair with you, this might be the most accurate way of describing the 2000-05 era on television.

That seems reasonable. Mostly in these forums, I would favor the 2000-05 season, since that's most of the shows that I watched as a kid. After mid 2006, it started to go through some sitcoms and that, but I wasn't extremely interested into them until late 2008/2009. And yeah... I did kinda watch those at a young age. Although, I usually watched kid shows at the time.

If you ask me, my favorite seasons came from the late 90s/early 2000s. It's still good even after 20 seasons, but I find Seasons 1-4 to be my favorites.

Regarding the Simpsons 1-10 was the shows golden age and peak. My parents stopped watching around season 13 or so. (10 is the earliest season I remember as a kid, though I was only 6 and 7 so I didn't get most of the jokes). Personally I can tolorate through 15 so.

When it comes to Family Guy seasons 1-3 were the shows golden age. I started watching them around 2004 or so when Cartoon Network airred the reruns late at night. Family Guy was good in my opinion through season 7. I watched through 10 but got bored of it around that time.

When it comes to South Park it's hard to say which seasons I like best. I would say seasons 4-10 + 14 are my personal favorites but I feel the show is still great (not just good but great) and has nowhere near jumped the shark.

When I was young, I used to watch the older episodes, especially Seasons 2-11. They were kinda better than the seasons that were made during the mid-late 2000s. It didn't felt forced over the humor.

I used to love watching Family Guy's episodes up until Season 9, since that was when the show started to awfully rot. It started to get more graphic since Season 10, and that's where I started to lose my interest for it.

Same with me. I love watching new episodes of South Park, especially in this season. It makes me laugh a few times in the newer episodes, but they aren't classics compared to the earlier seasons.

Family Guy was funny for a while till it started getting unfunny.

Yeah around 2009 or 2010 (idk what season) it got boring for me, although the early 2000s is when I enjoyed it most obviously.

Thinking about Family Guy's modern seasons makes me wish Fox would cancel the show already.

The Early 2000s and to an extend, the mid 2000s were Family Guy's heyday. I realized how much of a better show Futurama is now though. Futurama has serious substance. The Simpsons never did it for me.

The Simpsons weren't really serious after the late 90s. It had the same repetitive comedy, even though nobody has ever watched the show since then.

Definitely 2000-2005. Television shows from 2006-2009 are still better than the shows of the 2010s, but not nearly as fun or awesome as early-mid 00s shows. Plus the late 00s was when the whole "serialized, overly dark drama" trend was starting to gain steam, and you all know how I feel about that  8-P.

For some reason, a lot of people say that Simpsons went down after around 2000.

Early 2000s. There was so many shows I liked back then, especially on Toonami, although I still watched little kid shows on Playhouse Disney, Nick Jr., and PBS Kids.

To be personally honest, I think TV was really great by 2003-2007. By 2008, it wasn't entirely special, but it was still tolerable for me.

I used to love watching Oswald, Little Bear, Bear in the Big Blue House, Teletubbies, The Wiggles, Barney, and Sesame Street when I was a toddler in the early 2000s. I still love them, except for Sesame Street and Barney.

I remember all those shows! I was 6 when I watched them in 2002, although I had already discovered anime by that point.

My first anime that I watched was Pokemon. I discovered it when I was about 6, but I wasn't really into it. I remember watching a few episodes though.

Pokemon was my first anime too! I also adored Digimon.
Wasn't that PBS show George Shrinks an anime as well? I remember watching it as a kid and thinking he looked like Brock.
