It definitely seems like it was a pretty lackluster year as far as the 2000s go.  Its Pixar entry was Cars, and a lot of people were let down by Dead Man's Chest, The Last Stand, and Superman Returns.

That said, it did have the Casino Royale remake, which a lot of people would argue is the best Bond film to date, not to mention Martin Scorsese's The Departed.  Pan's Labyrinth and Borat, too.  Also, while 2006 is still a little lacking in excellent movies, it nonetheless didn't produce a large concentration of outright horrible films, either, as most other 2000s years did.  Even with Pledge This!, it certainly didn't have anything on the same level of notoriety as Battlefield Earth, The Room, Son of the Mask, Disaster Movie, or Superbabies:  Baby Geniuses 2.

Since I was obsessed with cars and racing games when I was a kid like Mario Kart or Planet Hot Wheels, that's the only reason why I was excited to see Cars in the movies that year, and I loved it at the time. Happy Feet was lame, Fast & Furious: Toyko Drift was my least favorite of the series, I know many kids who watched The Devil Wears Prada that year, but I don't know how it was since I never watched it. Night of the Museum came out at the very tail end of the year, and that was EPIC! That's about all I remember from the 2006 movies, Cars and Night of the Museum were the only movies from that year that I enjoyed at the time. For Cars, again, because of my obsession with cars & racing in general as a kid, and I think because of all the Pixar movies from the previous years being so good, had something to do with my high expectations coming into the Cars movie to see. So tbh, the only good movie from 2006 that I know of was Night of the Museum, but since it came out in the tail end of 2006, that should really get a pass for 2007 possibly. Since most of 2006 it wasn't even around, but of course previews for the movie had to be shown months before December 2006, so it does qualify for that year.

Cars, Happy feet, Ricky boby, Eragon and Poseidon were good. Not the greatest but still miles above 2000 which had the most number of lackluster films.

2000 had Gladiator, Scary Movie, X-Men, Next Friday, Dr. Suess How the Grinch Stole Christmas, The Emperor's New Groove, etc. So yeah, I do agree that 2000 was the one of the blander years for movies compared to most of the other 2000's years. I even said on another thread that I didn't care for 2000, with the exception of some of the movies I listed, but even a lot of those 2000 movies I liked are no where near my top favorite movies compared to the great movies and franchises from other years. Probably because 2000 had a lot of late 90's hangovers throughout the year, and really the cultural 2000's movies didn't begin until 2001 with The Fast & the Furious, Harry Potter, Lord of the Rings, Spy Kids, Shrek, etc. and many other movies from that year which were real popular. Overall, I still think 2006 is no better than 2000 though.

Yeah I remember only liking a few movies in 06' like Cars, Night at the Museum, Happy Feet, & Click.

2006 was pretty bland in the grand scheme of things. However 2006 in general was a pretty bad year pop culture wise. Nick & CN's decline were becoming very noticeable, MTV was its peak in the reality tv era, many great sitcoms ended this year like Malcol in the Middle and That 70's Show, video games while decent weren't at their strongest for instance Sonic 06 came out this year however you still saw the release of Wii & PS3 so i guess that made up for it, also from what I remember there was nothing but Crunk rap and emo music on the radio that year  8-P

However despite this 2006 is my favorite years from my childhood because of my personal life this year so that's something that'll stick to me forever  ;)
