A/S/L guys?

Habbo Hotel is a virtual chatroom powered by Shockwave. It was popular among teens in Commonwealth countries (UK, Ireland, Canada, Australia, New Zealand etc.) and a few other European countries in the 2000s (around 2002-2008). You create a virutal avatar, and with that avatar you can go into "rooms" decorated with furniture (sofas, tables, pets etc.) and chat with other teenagers and play games with them. Infamous for the amount of cybersex that took place there as well.

It still exists, but isn't as popular as it used to be. Anyone remember using this site back in the day?

I do not remember it, but was it a virtual version of Sims?

I remember I used it when I was 8 (used a fake age), and all I did was look around my virtual room. That's it.

Hmm, not exactly. While you do get an avatar, a room, and the ability to decorate it with furniture, you didn't need to eat to satiate your hunger or go to the washroom to empty your bladder or anything like that.

Ha, at least someone here used it. ;D You didn't talk to anyone?

I tried to, but then I found it boring. I thought I needed to have a subscription in order to talk to people on Habbo. But nevertheless, it wasn't as cool as Club Penguin. Good times. :)

:o it was free to talk. At the old age of 11/12 I felt I was too old for Club Penguin, although I remember my younger friends getting into it lol.

Oh, maybe I was talking about the premium subscription for the other features. As for Club Penguin, I really didn't care for it ever since I was about 12/13.

It came out 2004 though didn't it? I remember Runescape was very popular in my neighbourhood in 2004. I'll probably make a separate thread on that since I think that was popular in the US as well. ;D

For Habbo, it came out in September 26, 2001. Just 15 days after 9/11. As for Club Penguin, it came out in October 24, 2005. Both of those games became popular during the mid-late 2000s.

Ohhh I miss Habbo Hotel! Thanks for the nostalgia, I completely forgot about it. I loved it when I was 9 years old and thought it was so cool. I remember Coke Music too.

It's fuzzy but I do remember a lot of that. I remember I used to hang out a lot in the music centres where the DJ's were. I clearly remember being in the "MuchMusic Headquarters" the most often.
