Subject: Best sitcom of the 2000s?

Spinoff from that other thread to this more general topic.

It has to be Curb Your Enthusiasm right? That show has a fall off your chair moment every episode  ;D

Everybody Hates Chris, Malcolm In The Middle, and Curb Your Enthusiasm.

I've never heard of Curb Your Enthusiasm, but I loved Malcolm In the Middle and That 70s Show (could that be considered 2000s, it lasted from August 1998 to May 2006).

That title must go to The Office. The best show of the 2000s imo.

I don't know if I would call Everybody Hates Chris underrated. A lot of people I know liked that show, and even a lot of people have been enjoying reruns over the last several years including myself.

Same with me. It seems really bad. I don't know how it got 9 seasons, when it's not even that funny to start with.

I would call it an '00s sitcom. Just like how I consider Family Matters to be a '90s show even though it started in 1989.

Anyways, Arrested Development and Curb Your Enthusiasm are far and away the two best sitcoms of the '00s. Actually Arrested Development is my third favorite show of all-time behind only Seinfeld and pre-1998 Simpsons.

I like the Big Bang Theory but it's a 2010s show, not a 2000s show (aired only 3 years in the 00s and 6 years in the 10s). I don't think it is as good and funny now as it was before but season 9 was actually really good! Season 8 was the weakest and most non-funny season.

I can definitely get by this. Had The Big Bang Theory ended around 2011-2013 instead of continuing now, it would have been a late 2000's show, similar to how Buffy the Vampire Slayer lasted from 1997-2003, but it's considered as a late 90's show since it mainly peaked around 1997-2001 when new episodes were on the WB.

Well that's irrelevant and hypothetical because the show is still airing today.  ;D

I just consider Buffy the Vampire Slayer to be a late 90s/early 00s show, since it did air between 1997-2003. Although, most of the famous episodes came from the era which I put on bold above my post.

Though to be fair, I didn't watch adult TV before 2004, but the stuff I caught on reruns was hit or miss. I couldn't really get into some "classics" like the Cosby Show, Cheers, or Fraiser, even though I sat through most of it because nothing else was on ;D

Well, 2004 seem like one of my favorite years for television. They had a lot of seasons premiered for HBO shows, and they also debuted Lost, Drake and Josh, Danny Phantom, and a bunch of other cool shows. By the way, I never really watch adult TV until 2006, which is really young, although I did watch it regularly around late 2007/early 2008.

I don't care what anybody who grew up in the 90's/early 2000's says about 2004. It was a great and underrated year pop culturally in a lot of things I can come up with in my head. 2004 was a fun year for movies. I consider 2004 to be the peak year for 6th generation gaming in everything that defined the PS2, Gamecube, and XBOX combined together, and it was a really balanced year in television for quintessential sitcoms and cartoons of the 2000's decade. 2004 was a very balanced year pop culturally.

It seems most people start watching more adult-oriented shows in middle school (except cartoons, since those tend to draw accidental views from children)

Unless their parents see them watching those adult cartoons, which most of them would've told them to change the channel. I mean, I was kinda lucky that my parents let me watch Adult Swim and Nick at Nite as a kid. Although, it seemed risque for me.

I somewhat agree with you. I think TV is at one of its best eras ever, right now.
I do love 90's TV, especially sitcoms, but if you ask me to pick between the first half of 00s TV, or the second half of the 00s TV, I would pick the second half.

I completely agree with you, maybe it was the recession, IDK, but late 2007-2009 was very weak for TV IMO too. A lot of things changed throughout 2007-2009. Many logos that changed, rebrands, core 2000's shows ending, etc. and it wasn't just for the kid stations, but even stations like FOX too. MAD TV ending in 2009 was huge in my book, as well as sc-ifi changing into the syfy we know today.

2009 (especially late 2009) was kinda big to me. I remember when I heard about Nickelodeon's logo change, and I waited for the day (September 28, 2009) when it happened. That day seemed lame, because they were getting rid of their iconic splat logo that they used for 25 years.

TV become more "epic" in the second half of the 2000s. The stories felt a lot deeper. There weren't many shows like Lost, Prison Break, Heroes, Dexter, Breaking Bad etc. Before 2005. There were hints of it, like Buffy, 90210, etc. But TV was mostly dominated by those 22 minute shows.

Well, those shows mostly came from HBO, which were usually 1 hour shows. Stuff like The Sopranos, Six Feet Under, Deadwood, Oz, and The Wire were kinda like key elements to the shows that you mentioned before.
