This is actually harder than I first thought. Most of the Early 2000s are hard for me to do (since I was only a toddler), so I have skipped 2000-2002. Not only that, but I started to dislike mainstream music in 2008. Anyway, I will give it a crack...

2007 — Living With Determination from the Persona 3 OST. . I was tempted to just merge 2006 and 2007 into this. It starts off extremely depressing but gets more optimistic towards the end, which captures how I felt. My bullies were determined to make my life a living hell, but a strong sense of gratitude for having a loving family and a close group of friends gave me the strength to keep going.

2008 — Fly Away by THYME. It's a Japanese rock song, and I was going to look for an English one but I'm short on time lol (fricken 2006...). Here's a translation. Context: I was living away from my family in the late portion of the year, and seeing as they were largely what kept me happy, I got really homesick and fell into a full-fledged depression.

2009 — All You Did Was Save My Life by Our Lady Peace. By no means my favourite or most played song of the year. It's just that in the first 4 months I was suicidal, then in May - August I made a herculean effort to get better, and the last 4 months were some of the happiest days of my life. Quite the turnaround! :D
