People act like there's some huge difference between the early '00s and the mid '00s, but the fashion in these pictures doesn't look too far removed from the early '00s.

This is also why I associate the Xbox 360 more with the '00s than the '10s.  It was around for half of the decade and was a huge deal through the late '00s.

The 00's look like the 70's if the 70's had more hip hop influence.

Well, that's because, as you said before here, small vestiges of the early 2000s lasted until 2006, even if it wasn't as prominent after 2003.

LOL, in the second last photo there's a photo of that douchebag from Nickelback on the bulletin board.

Yeah the 2005-06 school year was kind of a transition between the classic '00s and the late '00s (emo/scene, 7th gen consoles, Vista, ringtone rap, etc).  It's kind of sad because that year as like the "end of an era" for me and it's now been 11 years.  Even though I graduated high school in 2004, that world didn't really seem to fade until around the middle of 2006.

Making me nostalgic!  :\'( :D

I miss those white beaded surfer necklaces and the funny flash cartoons like the girl is watching. And is that a freakin' snake on the table or just something on someone's school books?

I don't miss when being preppy was dominant though.

What do you think would be the earliest year/s the first three pics could pass in?

1st photo: 2003
2nd photo: 1999 although that might be because of the quality.
3rd photo: That looks more or less mid 2000s because of the technology. Too high tech for the early 2000s.
4th photo: 2005

Kids today and in 2005 looked/look so young. I remember looking at yearbooks from like 1996/1997 and 18 year old dudes look like they were 23 years old. I wonder if it's the food we're eating today, or whatever. Or what's in the water, or humans are physically evolving to look younger these days!

I've wondered this.  I don't think people look younger today than they did in the past.  It's that the way we perceive age changes as we age.  When you are in elementary school, middle schoolers look old and high schoolers look like adults.  By the time we reach our thirties, it's hard to tell a 15 year old from an 18 year old.

When you think that the mid 00s feels recent and then these photos make you realize that the mid 00s ended over a decade a go. Let the nostalgia role in. I am missing my old personal life from 2004-2005.

The photos just remind me how 70's the 00's looked. Seriously compare the two eras!

The 70's:

Definitely. The shaggy unkempt hair on guys, straightened hair on girls and polo shirts all look very 70's and early 80's. Generally, I'd say that decade had throwbacks to fashion from around 1975-1982.

Jessica Simpson's Public affair, and Madonna's Dance floor 2005 era seem to really showcase that the late 70s-early 80s
were in during the mid 2000s.

I miss 2005. Just playing with my neighbours all summer, going to the beach, hanging out with my cousins, riding our bikes around the neighbourhood and so many nice memories of just not worrying so much about life. Man I get so nostalgic looking back now. That year feels so dreamy now already. Time goes by so fast.  :\'(

Funnily enough, that boy back row of the first picture actually looks a lot like I did c. 2005, except I had a really cheesy mustache.

THIS!!

Everyone in the world should know this, since no country or territory had any actual peace whatsoever. Even in the 90s, the world was already in chaos with the Rwandan genocide, Waco, the '93 LA Riots, the '93 WTC bombing, the OKC bombing, etc.
