Honestly, why do we always see late 2006 hoarding up the boards for a while? At first it started to be a joke from the2001, but now it's really starting to be obnoxious. What makes it a shift aside from The WB rebranding as The CW with UPN. It's not like everybody watched The WB for its duration, especially since it wasn't as well known as other network channels. They're basically like PBS, except the government and public affiliations don't fund their shows.

Frankly, I feel like the only person who doesn't feel like 2006 was a changing year. I don't know if it has to deal with me being born in 1999 or that I think 2009 was more transitional than 2006 imo.

it could be because you were born in 1999, your earliest memorys had to been around 2003/ 2004/2005 ,
from about 1998-2006 it was considered one era with mini changes to it,  1998-2001 teen pop, 2003-2006
emo, myspace etc, all withen this same main era, to alot of people all of the shifts that happened in 2006 ended it.

Wow that last pic hit me. I remember people dressing like that. It was pretty fun! :D

I used to dress like the male version of what that girl in the middle is going for haha. Matching those late 2000s elementary colours, red (or other bright colour) and black, and a giving a punk/rockstar spin to it 8) It makes me a bit nostalgic.

I agree. It's not like everybody had the same perspective of every 2000s year. Hell, I can't even remember 2000 and 2001 because of how young I was during the early 2000s. It doesn't really matter since I really care more about my own nostalgia bias (or those who are as old as me), not any other kind of nostalgia bias.

2006 was a changeful year, but not as much as 2008 and 2009.  There was a notable difference though between the 2005-06 school year and the 2006-07 year.  The 2005-06 year, to me, didn't seem that different from the early '00s.

Great pictures by the way.  I really miss that world.

Wow, things have definitely changed aesthetically since 11 years ago. These photos make it slightly easier for me to accept the fact that 2006 is halfway back to the beginning of my cinematic memories. Their rendering seems dated, and the clothing...wow, I forgot how much better both men and women looked back then.

I know right? Those pictures make 2006 feel more distant to 2017 than I originally thought. Choice of clothing was different along with the fact that trends overall seemed different. Also still surprised it has been 11 years at this point. Also I'm surprised on how dated the emo look seems now.

Senior year was fun as hell. Too bad I was dealing with so many stuff that I couldn't enjoy it as much! I took a coding class and we made websites and pages in that class. Fun as heck.

I think the third one (with the entire class) and the last pic look distinctly late 2000s. The first one could've been in 2008 or 2009, I'd be surprised if that were 2004/2005. The last one could be 2005 (late 2005), but more 2007/2008 looking, if I had to guess.

The third one has a lot of bright neon colours, which were more of a 2007-2013 trend from what I remember. The jeans and clothes are also slimmer instead of baggy. Actually, it looks like they're all intentionally wearing blue for some event. I think it might be Autism Awareness Day?

The last one just plain looks late 2000s. No other way to describe it. A Paramore music video ;D I think it's the colours and the colour matching.

Bright neon colors were a huge thing in the very late 90s and early 2000s. Whenever I think of that stretch of time, I immediately think of shiny, flashy, bright, colorful outfits that matched the tone of the culture of the time. The vibrant colors have definitely declined since the mid-2010s, however.

I think neon was popular among women in the early 2000s, with the sequins (sp?). I'm not sure about neon on guys.

Come to think of it, I did have bright clothing in the early and mid 2000s. Normally I'd just wear jeans or khakis with a black, gray, or drab green or brown shirt. But in the early 2000s, I decided to go clothes shopping for a new wardrobe, and since I don't keep up much with fashion, brought my sister, who loves shopping, to help me. She picked out most things: a lot of collared, button up shirts in colors like yellow, orange, and light blue, with white in them too. It's hard to describe the pattern, but they looked nice on me in a casual and fun way. They weren't neon, but it was the most colorfully I'd dressed since the late 80s and early 90s when my mom picked out my clothes and neon was in style.

I probably dressed like a lot of other people of the time in the early to mid 2000s, since my sister has a more up to date sense of style than I do.

In fact, just a few months ago I was wondering why I don't dress as colorfully anymore, and why other people don't wear bright colors either, and thought the times just don't seem to match that look anymore.

Also, nowadays I see a lot of beards, even Duck Dynasty beards, and flannel.

Has there been a beard Renaissance in the 2010s? I feel like if the photos on this thread were from today, half the guys would have beards. What's the deal with all these beards lately?

Well, yeah, change is usually gradual so I can see what you mean. I think the last one looks ever so slightly more late 2000s than mid 2000s though. But maybe it's not a huge difference.

Yes, 2006 is when I also started seeing them around. I don't think a majority of household TVs were HD until the end of the decade, but 2006 is when they became an almost daily sight when walking around town.

The only difference I see is that tighter pants on women are more prominent here than on the last photos but everything else still looks roughly the same.
