Subject: The most underrated band of the 2000s

What is the most underrated band you know from the 2000s?
In my opinion it`s "The Music" they formed in 1999 and released their first full album in 2002. Here`s a song from that album!

Here is their last live performence of the song above in 2011. They have ofcourse gotten older here and no longer teenagers.

I would say Owl City.  Most people remember him for only one song and consider him a one-hit wonder.  However, he had multiple albums before he went mainstream with "Fireflies."  Some really nice stuff is there if you are into dreamy electronic music.  Here are a few of my favorites.

His older stuff is pretty good but i pretty much became a fan in the Summer of 2009 because of "Fireflies". It`s just sad that it has become a meme now but i guess i`m happy that it`s relevant and being played on the radio again!

His latest album was pathetic in my opinion.  He is somebody who sold out his identity when he became famous.  His first three albums were very creative and artistic.  After he became big with Fireflies, the music was dumbed down to the lowest common denominator.  His 2012 album was pretty bad but it was nothing like his 2015 album, which many people have said is the worst album in music history by a well-known artist.

I think The Vines were a bit underrated. Even though they did achieve success in Australia and the UK, they were never quite as big as the other garage-rock revival bands and I don't think they were able to crack the US market (although, I could be wrong). I guess you could say that they suffered from the same problem as The Strokes; the media were hyping them up to be the next "big thing". When their debut album was released in 2002, the British press viewed them as being the "next Nirvana"!  :o

I think the Vines were actually quite popular but that`s just me. I guess it depends on where you live really. ::)

Is it really that bad?! I`m gonna have a listen straight away.

Yeah it's pretty bad.  It's hard for me to listen through an entire song.

This is much better.  It's from an EP he did in 2014 and reminds me of his '00s stuff.

There`s something about his music that`s giving me good vibes. Used to always hear his songs in the radio back in 2009. Underrated artist. Seen as a meme now. How sad. :-\\

Here is a good article that explains it.

https://studybreaks.com/2016/03/31/why-owl-city-needs-to-make-a-comeback/

The only place I disagree with the article is the reason for the decline.  I simply think he sold out to commercialism.  His 2014 EP Ultraviolet proves he still has it in him.  It's a shame it barely got any publicity.

I think The Vines may have actually been more popular in the UK than they were in Australia. They were reasonably popular here, but they were never as big as other garage-rock bands such as Jet or Wolfmother.
