I agree with this. My best year of high school was 2002-03 and that was a very defining year in my life.  That was also the peak of early '00s culture in my opinion.

2001-2002? Nah. I was in 6th grade and I didn't have the greatest time then.  :P

2000-2001, 2003-2004, and 2007-2008 are my favorites.  8)

Nah, 2001-02 was a blah year. The Y2K teen pop wave was all but over, the core '00s hadn't yet formed, WTC dampened the atmosphere giving this year a more serious edge, and singers like Michelle Branch, Vanessa Carlton, and Avril Lavigne had sappy for its time pop, lame nu-metal stragglers, forgettable hip hop, and even the novelty of primetime reality TV from 2000-01 was starting to wear just a little. And even 2002-03 wasn't much better until late in the year. I'd say the box office and the video game atmosphere was somewhat better though as sixth generation gaming was in full swing and we were still in the classic era of PC gaming with MMORPGs not yet popular.

One last Britney post on this thread. I don't want to hijack it with Britney too much!

Yeah, her peak was around mid 2000 to about early 2002.

7th grade, for me. Talk about puberty.

I remember that a song called Drive by Incubus was very popular in the Spring of 2002. Although I read that it was released in late 2001.

Also, lead singer of Nickelback had a song for Spider-Man (2002) called Hero. I liked it.

R&B was HUGE in 2001. Rap became big by 2002/2003.

Teen pop was dead by 2002.

I was in Grade 4 that year. It was miserable for me, I had the most evil teacher. He thought it was a child's duty to do homework 24/7 and he was relentless.

I remember 5th génération of gaming came to an end and 6th generation started. I preferred 5th TBH, I miss the party game era. Spongebob Square Pants really took off that school year too, I remember singing the theme song on the school bus ;D Yu-gi-oh and Fairly Odd Parents got popular that year too.

I will say the 5 best school years in the 2000s  for me (as someone who's been through them all) were

1. 2009-2010 (Grade 12)
2. 1999-2000 (Grade 2)
3. 2000-2001 (Grade 3)
4. 2006-2007 (Grade 9)
5. 2007-2008 (Grade 10)
