Subject: 2005, 2006, or 2007?

Written By: doublejm1 on 01/18/18 at 7:36 am

Time to travel back in time to the mid-2000s.

Which of these three years did you enjoy most and why?

I do not need to travel back though time for these years, and remember and enjoyed these years, as I was in employment, busy networking, and staff bonding.

Pop culturally, 2007 beats all those years.

Personal-wise, 2007. It was such a fun year.

Hell yes. 2006 was easily the worst year for music ;D

I agree. 2005 has been the best and most consequential year of my life:

- Hooked up with my now-wife
- Transferred to university for junior and senior year
- First paid job
- Switched major to the field I work in today
- Good music and even better movies
- Hung out a lot with an old friend from high school who enrolled with me at the university

2006 and 2007 were good years in their own right, but by then I had settled into more of a routine as far as college and the relationship.

I would guess most people will say their favorite of the three is the one that included the most fun/novel experiences.

In 2007 was the first time I touched a girl's boob so that was cool I guess.

2007 by a long shot. It was a really good year for me, a lot of variety in my life during that time, personally.

The music is my favorite thing from 2005. It's also the year I went to my first round of concerts. It was a fun year for me.

This is a very difficult decision. 2006 was definitely the best for my personal life especially that summer and all the friends I made in elementary school. I made more friends in 4th & 5th grade (2006) more than any other grade throughout my elementary school years. For the pop culture this is where it gets tough. As a kid I enjoyed 2005 better pop culturally overall especially for TV, but you could argue that the movies, video games and music throughout 2007 were better. 2007 was one of the biggest and most fun years for gaming ever. Combine the games from 2006 into 2007 with the XBOX 360, Wii, and Nintendo DS Lite altogether. 2007 was a huge classic YouTube year (even tho that started in '06) and it was the peak of the early social media era.

2005 and the first half of 2006 were some of the happiest days of my life. When I moved to California in the summer of 2006, at first I was excited, but when I got there I was lonely and found it harder to make friends than in Oregon or Texas. Plus I was in junior high around that time, I don't think that's a very happy time for most people.

They sucked for me also. Has it really been more than 10 years? Damnit!

I'm not picking any of those years. The mid-2000s can go to hell. I'll only vouch for the early and late 2000s.

I'll put in a good word for Juno as well. Not the best date movie (as awkward 17-year-old me was to find), but really solidly written and performed.

I don't remember 2005 much, 2006 is when my memories start to become easy to grasp, but I don't remember anything about it beyond some school stuff (a King Kong joke I had with a friend about when Kong rips the tongue out of the V. Rex, and watching some Christmas movie with the class on some tiny old tv, trading comics with my friends in the background. Maybe I went to the zoo and saw some stuff then, I'm not sure if it was 2006 or 7) and maybe I was living in that bad apartment I remember so much, though I associate it more with '07.

2007 is when I really start to remember stuff. Watching Mucha Lucha while sick and Growing Up Creepie was on sometimes. Late at night I'd stay up and watch animes on . I think it was the first time with internet; I read Encyclopedia Dramatica and laughed at furries, got lots of music off of Youtube (Tributes were popular, I think). 2007 was the first year I got into music with Sum 41's song on Godzilla: Final Wars, and my mom showed me Korn and Disturbed.

That was the last full year of school with my old friends before I'd have to move since the school I was in didn't have disability services and I was diagnosed with Asperger's. I remember my old friends a bit; we'd listen to Slipknot and draw comiXs. Maybe that was the last summer I was free; I think it was '08 when I had to go to special ed. classes in summer. I have more memories of 2008, though, but 2007 is when it all gets coherent, so I like it a lot compared to '05 and 6, and it was the last year of that I guess middling childhood era?

Yep, almost nothing except getting punched in the face and biting people in Kindergarden. Though I can barely remember 2013-2016 either. I didn't do anything besides sit around playing Skyrim or Oblivion and listening to old metal albums. After 2012 I just didn't care about the now; no friends, no good shows, so retreat. 2007-2012 I have lots of memories, even if they blur into each other sometimes.

That's weird. No offense but you have any cognitive problems?

If you were born in 1998 then you should certainly remember 2005-2006 and you should 100% remember 2013-2016.

I loved all three of these years :D.

I guess if I had to rate it:

2005 for Pop Culture (lesser extent personal life, but still solid)

2006 for my personal life (lesser extent pop culture, still good though)

Honorable mentions:

2007 for being still pretty bad ass for my personal life and Pop Culture still being decent

So I guess if I had to choose one, I'd have to go for 2006 for being the equal balance of being a great year for my personal life and pop culture still being good (not as good as 2005 though). This video right here gives me such nostalgic vibes of good ole' 2006:

I've only ever been diagnosed with Asperger's and an IQ around the 170 mark, maybe that? I don't remember much about 2013-16 mostly because nothing happened except high school and games. I can recall a few bad events from HS, but that's about it tbh.
