Subject: Would these be classified as 2000s cartoons?

Written By: Star Struck on 03/27/18 at 12:11 am

I felt a little nostalgic and decided to binge watch intros from my childhood cartoons. I was watching stuff like Rocket Power, Ed Edd n eddy, PPG, Wild Thornberrys, Samurai Jack, Courage, and so on. Then I came across a comment saying these were one of best cartoons from the 2000s. Then another guy commented saying these are only for 90s kids and not 2000s kids. I find it weird since the cartoons I mentioned aired more in the 2000s (especially Ed Edd n Eddy). What do you guys think? If shows like Fill House and Roseanne, which aired in the late 80s, can be considered shows for 90s kids, why can't the shows I listed be for 2000s kids?

Edd Ed n Eddy didn't end until 2009 so it's definitely a 2000s show because 2000s kids should've watched it between the span of 1999-2009

In my opinion the cartoons you mentioned can be for both 90s kids and 2000s kids.

Both. They're not only for 90s kids. Why in the world did Ed, Edd, n Eddy end in 2009? Usually when a series extends for 10 years, it becomes stale and watered down.

Samurai Jack started in the 2000's.

That's what I'm saying too. These cartoons can be for both 90s and 2000s kids since they would be able to remember watching them.

Samurai Jack started in the 2000's.

Yeah I know. Some like to think it's a 90s cartoon since everything that is "good" and "old" means it's automatically from the 90s. I saw a meme online that said "Only 90s kids remember this" and it would show a picture of Danny Phantom lol

What's funny about this is that Danny Phantom premiered just as 90s influences were beginning to subside.  :P

The show was originally planned to end in like 2002 or 2004 but Cartoon Network kept ordering episodes until 2007. Then, 2 years later in 2009 the finale movie aired. The later episodes (like the school ones)weren't as good as first couple seasons but were still somewhat enjoyable imo.

I thought the first few seasons were the best and the school series was pretty enjoyable. What did you think of the TV movie?

The movie was actually pretty great! Possibly the best way to end the series.

These shows could go either way. PPG girls is probably more of an '00s show because it lasted longer during the '00s. Ed, Edd and Eddy is obviously an '00s show given how long it lasted, and most of the rest of the shows listed actually started during the early '00s.

To me, it's always best to ignore losers on YT telling you what shows you can like. Most likely it's some dude born about 1995 that watched a few shows during the last few years of the '90s and thinks he's awesome.

I thought the movie was great too! Eddy's brother seems like a real jerk though.

A lot of those didn't see a day in the '90s, that's all you need to say to him.

Many people mistake the term '90s kid (grew up in the 1990s) to mean '90s baby (born in the 1990s). There SOME '90s babies who are also '90s kids (that's people born from 1990-1992) but most '90s babies ARE NOT '90s kids.

The creator of that picture with Danny Phantom was another person who mistakes the two of them.

What is a 2000s cartoon? Well, here is my definition:

1. A cartoon that started from 2000-2009 and spent all or AT LEAST 70% of it's original air time in the 2000s.
2. A cartoon that may have started in the 1990s but continued airing original episodes until AT LEAST 2003-2005.

Samurai Jack - and actually most of the Genndy Tartakovsky shows are solid 2000s territory. I’m quite fond of that period in cartoons in the early decade. That comic that goes around about how everything was better when “you” were 12? Well, that period was smack dab in the middle of that for me.

They're for anyone who was alive at the time to watch. Saying that only people from '91 or before can watch a cartoon that started in the late 1990s and ended well into the 2000s makes no sense. Also Samurai Jack isn't 1990s from what I remember. One thing I hate about the 1990s is how everything from around that time is considered "part of the 90s". Saved by the bell started in '89 yet is considered a 1990s show yet Ed Edd n Eddy aired in '99 yet it isn't a 2000s show? People call Chip n Dale a 90s cartoon cause it started in '89 yet Rocket Power isn't a 00s cartoon despite it starting in '99.

'90s kids. A bunch of hypocritical elitist dumb nuts. The ruiners of nostalgia and common sense. ;D

Well, as someone already pointed out, I think it's mostly people born in the mid-late 90s who behave that way. Not actual 90s kids, although some might.

I don't remember any kids from '93-'99 saying hypocritical stuff like that. '95 kids talk about how they enjoyed things like Rocket Power. '93 kids saying they enjoyed Courage the Cowardly Dog. '99 kids saying they enjoyed Powerpuff Girls. I've never met a smug '93 - '99 born before. I've met smug '92 born despite them being half and half '90s/00s to me. And I've met smug 80s born.

This kind of stuff is what kills the 1990s for me. They got such a simple idea such as 90s nostalgia and made it into such a toxic mess. Now I cringe whenever I see online posts or videos about the 1990s. But hey that's just me.

Nah, that's not true. It's mostly 1990-1994 borns who act that way. Also late '80s babies.

Uuugh, I always hated that. Youtube commenters/90s kids saying that I couldn't claim series like Dexter's Lab and PPG to be part of my childhood as a 2000s kid, like what the heck is this for a BS logic? And thinking of it, I'm 99.9% sure of those 90s kids were from like 94-95, so not even true 90s kids ::)

I've never met smug 90s or 80s babies in real life. However, online I've seen mid 90s babies attempt to use late 90s shows (even those that ran into the 2000s) to justify separating themselves from early 2000s babies. That's why they categorize those shows as 90s shows only. However, I believe you when you say you've met smug early 80s and early 90s babies.

But who do you think makes all those smug but dumb "90s kids only remember That's so Raven" memes? I definitely don't think it's those born from the 80s and '90-'92.

Nah, I disagree the overwhelming majority of '90s kids memes are/have been made by people born from about 1987-1994.
