Subject: Which year had more change? 2008 or 2009?

Written By: Tyrannosaurus Rex on 04/23/18 at 9:06 pm

I know that a lot of people may disagree with me this, but I would say 2009.

Obama became president, electropop became much more of a "thing", and based on my personal life, I did not really seem like a kid anymore.

2008 seemed to be that year that served as a bridge between emo (2003-2007) and electropop (2009-2012).

I agree with you about 2009. Even though Obama was elected in 2008, he actually didn't assume office until 2009. Sure, the last few months of 2008 showed signs that change was coming. As I mentioned before, even though Lady Gaga's debut album released in 2008, her songs didn't really hit the charts until 2009.

The same debate can be had about 2016 and 2017, in which I believe the latter had more changes.

I couldn't agree more with this. 2008 seemed to lean more towards the former IMO, with 2009 leaning towards the latter. So I'd definitely say 2009.

I don't understand why yet another thread like this needed to be made when there are very similar threads already on this forum. These points have already been discussed to death. Anyways, I have the feeling one of the mods will lock this.

In 2009 I had found work and had more change in my pockets!

2008 had more change because the changes that set up 2009 took place in 2008

2008 was kind of a bridge between the two eras.  To me, 2008 felt more like 2005-07 but it was the events of 2008 that set up 2009.  I also agree that 2016/17 saw a similar shift.  Early 2017 didn't really feel much different compared to 2013 but late 2017 was very different.

No offense but what's with all the 2008/2009 threads lately? Isn't this decadeology?

2016 was the SOFT version of 2008  but in the opposite way

in 2008 going into 2009 we went from Republican to Democrat

2016 to 2017    Democrat to Republican
