I'm curious to know if Georgia started school the earliest out of everybody in the nation at the time, because we always started school no earlier than August 4th but no later than August 10th, and we always got out of school no earlier than May 23rd but no later than May 29th. Almost everybody I see on forums who was in school during 9/11 say it was only their 1st or 2nd week of the school year. A lot have said it was their first day too. When 9/11 happened I had already been in Kindergarten for a month.

I can't believe it's so old school now. The early 2000s feel very distant to me.

The early 2000s was a unique time to be a teen.  The Internet was mainstream by then but social media was still in its infancy, mostly centered around forums not too different from this one.  The most you had for direct communication besides email was stuff like AIM or ICQ.  Those who were the most into Internet culture tended to be the geek, gamer, or anime nerd types and the popular kids typically were not.  I do kind of miss when the Internet used to be a more exclusive, somewhat elite "club."  The early 2000s was probably the last era where that was the case.

2009 was the first year I heard of Justin Bieber. If I recall he blew up on YouTube first before he became mainstream popular. Seasonal/school year wise it was 2009-2010 (I was in 8th grade) and I remember you were either a person who loved him (mostly girls) or a person who hated him and made fun of him. I remember people making fun of Justin Bieber in 2009 and 2010. So early 2010 sounds about right.

Oh well his first song "One Time" which featured Usher in the video came out in May of 2009. And then in the summer/fall of 2009 he released a bunch of follow up hits like one less lonely girl. Don't ask me how I know that. :-X I never liked Justin Bieber and I still think his music sucks.

These were very popular in the early 2000s. It seemed 'futuristic' to us kids back then (or should I say, us 'Old heads' ;D). It was pretty cool though.
