Written By: John Titor on 08/20/18 at 3:41 pm

What are your memories of this Christmas?

I remember at the time I had this black nokia flip phone, I was actually visiting Boston for 2 weeks at the time.
I went to this mall called Copley/Prudential bought some games for my PSP at the EBGames that was there, I remeber
people waiting outside to get in line for some Xbox 360's that were released, I remember using my neighbors internet
wifi for the first time on psp, Making my first yahoo mail account lmao

I remember I sat on an xmas bulb and my ass got cut. I remember visiting Queens center and it being FREEZING out.

I visited the Empire State Building in December 2005.

That was the last time I visited the ESB :P.

*When I say visited, I mean that I went inside the building and went to the observation deck.

Memorable times for me, that's for sure.http://www.inthe00s.com/Smileys/santa/smiley.gif For example, in my stocking I received three packs of 1987 Topps baseball cards; in them were eight specific cards I needed to complete the set!

Also, it was the first time since 1994 that Christmas fell on a Sunday. http://www.inthe00s.com/Smileys/santa/afro.gif (In '99 it was a Saturday; in '00 it was a Monday due to leap year.)

Overall, Christmas 2005 was one of my favorites. I went to visit distant relatives in the South that year for the holidays. It was pretty cool hanging out with them, going out to different restaurants, seeing the local Christmas tree get lit up, among other excursions. I remember Christmas being on a Sunday that year and me & my family/relatives went to Church that morning. It was my first experience with a 'mild' Christmas in the weather sense, I believe it was around 50 degrees and North-easterner me was thinking it was blasphemous ;D.

Because we went to Church in the morning, I was able to open up a few presents on Christmas Eve, and low & behold there was a Silver GameCube under the Christmas Tree. 9 y/o bursted into joy! Damn op, now you got me talking about Christmas... in the middle of August ;D.

I mean why did you get the GC so late? Were you more of a fan of the other consoles?

Yeah. I got a PS2 in Christmas of 2003. I was mainly a Playstation Kid, but I'd always admire the GameCube's games & (IMO back then) cool looking system at friends houses whom owned them. Hence why I asked my folks for one that year, but I had no idea the the Wii (known as Codename 'Revolution') was around the corner at the time. I just saw how cool the GameCube was back in the mid 00s and just wanted one because of that.

Oh. I see. Yeah, the GC did have some cool games during its span. Who could forget SMS, SSBM, MK: DD, Super Monkey Ball series, Metroid Prime series, Paper Mario: Thousand year door, Star Fox, the Mario parties, and the Mario sports games?

This was the beginning of the real death for  Crash. The gameplay was too easy, and they messed up the characters/humor with farting and lame pop culture references plus Crash being a sadist.

Well...around Christmas time 2005 I had just moved to a new place and it didn't give me time to decorate for the holiday that year. The only Christmas decoration we had was a Christmas card that I casually posted on the fridge ;D just to give us that holiday spirit feeling. We did have a Christmas dinner thankfully!  :)

LOL I agree. Crash was at its best in the PS1 Era. My favorite Crash Game of all time was this:

Yeah that's true. If I had to divide up Crash's eras, it would be like this maybe.

1996-2000: Golden Age (1, 2, 3, Team Racing, Bash)

2001-2004: Silver Age (Wrath of Cortex, Nitro Kart, Huge Adventure, N-Tranced, Twinsanity)

2005-2008: Dark Age (Tag Team Racing, Boom Bang, Titans, Mind over Mutant)

2009-2016: Nonexistent Age

2016-now: Revival Age (Skylanders, N Sane Trilogy)

I agree. I just think that Tag Team Racing's mixture of platforming & cool racing mechanics was pretty interesting. Hence why I'd put into the Silver Age category as well, but I can see why people saw it as a decline for the franchise as well (the obtuse toilet humor comes to mind).

The only thing I remember from Christmas 05 is vague. I got a VHS tape of Sesame Street.
