Subject: Backtrax USA: 00's decade version

Written By: 80sfan on 08/29/18 at 2:34 pm

There was a show every Saturday, Backtrax USA, about pop music from the 80's. It still airs every weekend, in my city.
What songs would you include in an 00's version of Backtrax USA?

I'll start. But please list the year the song was released. That's what they did on the radio show!

Bye bye bye, Nsync (2000)
Maria Maria, Santana (2000)
The real slim shady (2000)
Pokerface, Lady Gaga (2008)
Single Ladies (Put A Ring On It), Beyonce (2008)

I sometimes listen to it too!! And they also have a 90's segment. Sometimes "forgotten" hits will get played...but many "frequent" songs (i.e., ones you hear regularly, all the time) are also played.

That's right, with each song the host/announcer plays, he always mentions the year it came out.

The real slim shady - Eminem (2000)
Pokerface, Lady Gaga (2008)
Single Ladies (Put A Ring On It), Beyonce (2008)

Those are some decent choices, but I'm not sure if/when they'll have an 00's version of the show. If they did, those would be some likely songs to get played. I would also wanna hear:
"I'm Like A Bird" and "Turn Off The Light" by Nelly Furtado (both from 2001)
"Whenever Wherever" by Shakira (2001)
"Bright Lights" by Matchbox 20 (2003)
"Heaven" by Los Lonely Boys (2004)

More to come later.

"There's Gotta Be More To Life" and "Stuck" by Stacie Orrico (both from 2003) should also be on there, IMO. 8)

I would add:
Umbrella - Rihanna(2007)
Bleeding Love  - Leona Lewis(2007)
If I Were A Boy - Beyonce (2008)

Any hits from the band 3 Doors Down would also be good...
"Kryptonite" (2000)
"Be Like That" (2001, although not quite as big as their other hits)
"When I'm Gone" (2002)
"Here Without You" (2003)
"Away From The Sun" (2004, although this was the title track from their album which was released two years beforehand; the above two songs are also on it)
"Let Me Go" (2005)

I think these songs would mostly likely be played in any 2000's playlist:

1) Let Me Blow Ya Mind - Eve (2001)
2) Clocks - Coldplay (2002)
3) Let's Get It Started - The Black Eyed Peas (2003)
4) Candy Shop - 50 Cent (2005)
5) What I've Done - Linkin Park (2007)
6) Down - Jay Sean (2009)

Candy Shop was by Madonna, featuring 50 Cent.

"Only Time" by Enya, from '01, should definitely be on there.

And by the way, "Let's Get It Started" was a hit in 2004, even though the album it's on was released a year earlier.

"Superman (It's Not Easy)" (2001) and "100 Years" (2003), the two biggest hits by the one-man band Five For Fighting, could also be included.
