Subject: Favorite technology of the 2000s

Written By: SpyroKev on 10/11/18 at 9:32 pm

I'm coming to note the 2000s are the last decade when technology felt magical.

I really miss the Gameboy SP and Ipod. They were easily manageable and interesting to own.

Nintendo DS Lite. It was like a smartphone before smartphones to me, in a very archaic way ;D

Wi-Fi in general. When you didn't need to have your laptop plugged in with an Ethernet cable anymore to get anymore *_*

(I'm obviously not going to include 2007-2009 that didn't get popular until 2009+, that feels like cheating lol)

For me, it would have to be The PS3.

Seeing flat screens literally everywhere in stores for the first time in 2008-2009 felt quite futuristic and magical

Plasma flat tvs didn't age well, didn't they? :-\\

Smartphones of the day - to me, the games didn't seem like web games on them. MP3 players would also be favourites, because this would have been from a time when people would have not wanted their music to have get lost. I'd say the PS2 and the PS3 since I envied those who owned them - they had some neat games on them.

They looked soooo nice when they were still a novelty in the late 2000s. I don't know if any piece of technology will ever scream "slick and modern" the same way ever again. :P

Big fan of 2000’s tech here (you can see it in my profile pic ;)).
Also I love iPods, DVDs and I’m thinking on buying a retro GBA

Same :) Everything from the 2000s has this loveable slick, metallic and bouncy feel to it, a massive improvement from the ugly grayish and boxy 90s.

The wild internet world peaked in the late 2000's and that was my favorite "technology" moment per se. I remember my pre-teens and early teens were spent creating websites using cheap a website builder like at hPage.com and people could literally create anything and the User Interface and designs were so crazy back then. These days, it's more subdued and it seems to be more tame and minimalist. Gone are the days were webpages had all these crazy graphics and gimmicks and colorful backgrounds. I remember decorating my Myspace profile with sparkly glitter graphics and vectors. The crazier the design, the better.

I just remembered the disposable cameras that were huge throughout the 2000s, not very resource-friendly but super fun and pratictal on the go. Was always super proud everytime I got one and could took pictures on my own ;D
