Subject: Kids Born After 9/11 Are Now Eligible to Fight in the 'War on Terrorism'

Written By: ZeldaFan20 on 09/12/19 at 2:08 pm

Here is a video from ABC (Australia) talking to 20 somethings about their memories of the September 11th attacks:

Ca5u16eHAAY

Despite them being over 10,000 miles away (not to mention in completely opposing time zones), they can still quite clearly remember where and what they were doing at the time of the attacks.

This is not going to be a thread about, "who" or "what age would you have to remember 9/11?". I, being 5 years old at the time and living in Brooklyn, NY remember vividly, but someone the same exact age as me across the country may not as much as. Or perhaps someone slightly younger than myself living in another country may remember it in more vivid detail than I do. Once again, it's all perspective at the end of the day.

However, judging by some of the comments from the video above, such as;

"I wasn't even in the world yet"

"I wasn't even alive"

"I wasint alive yet i was born 3 yrs later"

And these comments being posted about a year ago, shows truly how much time has passed since these attacks occurred. The 9/11 attacks took place closer in time to the dissolution of the USSR, The Fall of the Berlin Wall, the Chernobryl Disaster, the Challenger Explosion, I could go on and on. In a short few years time, it would've taken place even closer in time to the Iranian Revolution and Iran Hostage Crisis, which one could attribute was what got the ball rolling on the Middle East policies the West would've began begin engaged in, and what we've been involved in since (we actually were friendly to the militant group, the Mujahideen, in their fight against Soviet Russia and Shia controlled Iran in the 80s, one of the most prominent members back then being Osama Bin Laden himself).

Soon 9/11 is going to be seen in the same light as the Challenger Explosion or JFK's assassination.

So it is now official, those born after 9/11/2001 are now old enough to enlist in the military, and thus fight in the 'War on Terrorism' that has been raging on for their entire lifetimes.

And yet, this is barely even talked about. That one article I posted was the only thing that popped up. After the 18th anniversary of 9/11, and people are back to their normal daily things. Work, school, errands, etc. etc.

Could we just stop to think about "how", "how did we get this far?", "When is this war going to end?", "What exactly is the end goal?", and quite frankly "What are we even fighting for?". Even Vietnam didn't last this long. Vietnam was associated as Baby Boomer's war (in the same way WWI was for the Lost Generation, WWII was for GIers, Korea was for Silents, etc.). The 'War on Terror' is for the Millennials. Us being in Afghanistan (not to mention our several other interventions we have, granted more with Special OPs and Drones, but I digress) for so long as to now members of Gen Z (aka the Homeland Generation, for obvious reasons) are old enough to fight in this war as well. It is the equivalent to if Vietnam was still being raged on to theoretically 1983, when the earliest Gen Xers would've theoretically been old enough to now fight (which coincides well with the Chinese Zodiac), you see how insane that really is?

What are some of your guy's thoughts on this?

They're also now eligible to register to vote.
(That is, people born after that day will now start turning 18, which is the age at which to register to vote.)

True. Essentially, there are now legal adults in America that never breathed a day where the Twin Towers were still in place.

It will be interesting to see the voting patterns of these youth. For years we have been talking about issues pertaining to Middle Eastern foreign policy from the perspective of people that were alive and cognizant of the attacks. Now we're entering a world where politicians have to answer questions to American adults whom not only were not cognizant, but were not even alive when these attacks occurred.

Low key; I have had some of those same exact thoughts too bro :-X. I'm not saying the attacks were an inside job necessarily, but there was certainly a lot of fishy sh!t that was going on leading up and during the attacks. Hell, Bush actually received a memo from Al-Qaeda weeks before the attacks that they were planning on 'striking America'

What was the third building to collapse, do they mean a section of The Pentagon? For the whole Pentagon building did not collapse. I was there in 2013, and it was still standing then. BTW, I was not allowed to take photos of it...

Interesting Op-Ed from WSJ:

https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.wsj.com/amp/articles/the-9-11-generation-comes-of-age-11568213715

It talks briefly about the historical significance of children born after 9/11 now being old enough to serve. Along with offering a contrast to the slightly older Millennials that grew up during the attacks.
