Subject: Best Toys For Zers From The 2000s

Written By: oldmusicfan on 03/26/20 at 7:33 pm

This will be tricky because the 2000s were when gaming, Apple products, and electronic toys took over, but here’s my list:

1) Pokèmon by Hasbro (1999)

        -Fq_iBiijFI

2) Poo-Chi by Sega Toys (2000)

3) Bratz by MGA Entertainment (2001)

        G6v7209uJX8

4) Shrek from McFarlane Toys (2001)

5) Justice League by Mattel (2002)

Bionicles

Lego Mars landing (I think that's what the sets were called)

Also dim memories of my son having some sort of spinning tops that you could attach different weapons to, and then fight out in an arena. (update of the seventies Battling Tops) Can anyone remember what this was called? I think you could collect different designs or spinners rather than buying a complete set

Beyblade?

That’s it.

I’m trying to think what my daughter played with that was specifically 2000s. When did Cranium come out?

Cranium supposedly came out in 1998.

Were a lot of Z’ers even old enough to remember some of this during its prime ? I mean I’m a late millennial or on the cusp between late y and early Z, but I feel like the meat of Gen Z was born in the early to mid 2000’s when all of this stuff came out ? I could be wrong tho...

Some toys from my childhood (early 2000’s)
Include:

-poochi

-hit clips

-Tamagotchi second series

-Izone polaroid Camera

-pokemon/yugi oh/Digimon cards

- Furbies

-Bop it

-easy bake ovens

-Bratz, Polly pocket and Barbie.

-Hot Wheels

Hot Wheels? I didn’t know anyone played with those in the 2000s.

Nice to see an Izone Polaroid camera mention. You’re taking me back! The late 1990s and early 2000s were alright.

The 2000s were anime central. I was proud when Perfect Hair Forever debuted on Adult Swim and spoofed every anime cartoon of the 90s into the 2000s.

My children played with them. My daughter was born in 1998 and my son in 2002.

We had a Hot Wheels loop the loop track and a parking garage that might have been Hot Wheels or may be just a generic.

I didn’t know there was any promotion for Hot Wheels in the 2000s. Of course, the 2000s suffered from rarely having any Saturday morning programming. Everything was on Cartoon Network or Nickelodeon. Disney Channel was still independent.

Fox Kids and WB had a lot of Saturday morning stuff; Yu-gi-oh, Sailor Moon, Power Rangers, Sonic X, Kirby were all Saturday morning cartoons. I can think of some more but they were probably Canada only.

I’m sorry it sounds like you weren’t alive in the 2000’s. WB was around in the 2000’s for a long time. Especially during the 2000-2004 period. Saturday morning cartoons were definitely still around. Sister sister was shown on WB and Disneychannel in the early to mid 2000’s. And Looneytunes were always on WB and Cartoon network.

They were popular from 1999-2004 at the very least. I stopped watching cartoons after 2004 so I don't know about after that.

My friends would sleep over at my house Friday night or I would sleep over at theirs, we had a rotating system. I had a Power Rangers alarm clock that I set to 7AM. Power Rangers usually came on first, then it was Kirby: Right Back at Ya! and then I think it was Sonic X. Sonic X was always the most hype. I think Yu-gi-oh used to come on later in the day around 11AM. This was in early 2004.

Yeah you definitely did not live the 90’s or 2000’s as a kid to it’s full extent. None of this is accurate tbh. Disney Channel was more popular from 2000-2007, by 2007 most of its original shows like That’s s Raven and Kim Possible were discontinued. Zoog from 1998-2002 was definitely apart of popular disney, I started elementary school in the Zoog era and it was pretty popular.  WB was popular from the late 90’s to early/mid 2000’s. Do you not remember Buffy the Vampire Slayer coming on every friday ? And all of the cartoon specials every Saturday like Kirby, Sonic, looney tunes, Sailormoon, etc ? Nick was popular all throughout the late 80’s til mid 2000’s in terms of cartoons 2007-2008 is when it sucked butt...

We lived in the UK in the early 2000s and didn't have access to Cartoon Network, Nick or Disney TV (apart from a freebie video I was given with Bear in the Big Blue House on it).

We did have a set of Bob the Builder toys, but in general weren't influenced by tv shows.

Someone mentioned Easy Bake Ovens. I don't recall these being available in the UK ever (at least not by that name). Many people on the boards mention them across the decades so they weren't a specifically noughties toy. I was just looking through some photos and found one of my daughter with a chocolate maker machine.  Fairly sure this was a new to the market toy in the early 2000s.
