Is the music of 2003 more similar to 1999 or 2007?

The music was easily more like 2007. It would be a more interesting question if you asked if 2003 as a whole was more similar to 1999 or 2007.

More like 1999 for sure.

Neither. The first few months were firmly identical to the music in the early 2000s (late 2000 to 2002) from what I remember. The rest of 2003 still sounds early 2000s with a few incoming elements that was later be associated with the mid 2000s, much like early 2004.

Gonna have to agree with Jaydawg here. Most songs from 2003 sound strictly early 2000s to me, since teen pop from the early Britney, Backstreet Boys, and 'NSYNC days had faded away from that point and genres like post-grunge, nu metal, pop punk, gangsta rap, and R&B were popular. So I'm honestly conflicted on this.  :o
