Simpler times

That it was. It's hard to believe that 2005 is now as long ago as 1989 was in 2005, and now I'm feeling the same sense of nostalgia as I did about '89 back then.

Anyhow, even more than "Prison Break" I think "The Office" best represents the mid (and late) 00's.

I can relate.

Simpler times

People ALWAYS say that. I remember in 1985, people said of 1970 "simpler times". In 1995 people said of 1981 "simpler times", etc, etc. Are times that came before, regardless of when they were, always "simpler"? Is it the "times" that were actually simpler, or was it people's individual lives that were simpler? And even then, do people's lives ALWAYS get more complicated as time goes on? Do lives never simplify as time goes on? I made a point of damn well making sure mine did.

F**king hell, that sounds way longer ago in 2005 than 2005 sounds now. Never realised that.

I've only seen a few clips of the office but PB really gives that mid 00s feel. The gray skies, the flip phones, the grittyness, etc.

Objectively things have been getting worse and worse in the world though. There are/were ups and downs as always, but society as a whole is progressively deteriorating.

Also if The Batman would have been released on time in June 2021, then there would have been 3 Batman films (and not just any Batman film but the first of the series/reboot) exactly 16 years apart as Batman Begins was released in June 2005, and Tim Burton's first Batman was June 1989. Another thing, back in 2005 I may have been nostalgic for 1989, but at the same time I was enjoying life of the present moment. Sadly there isn't much to enjoy about 2021 and it has little to no resemblance to 2005 as 2005 did to 1989, so it's not only a time I look back with fondness on but also wishing I could go back and pretty much living in that time.

doesn't really feel like it although me not being alive in 1989 might have something to do with it

I think Over the Hedge radiates strong core 2000's energy
