did they even exist ?

Culturally speaking, I felt like it didn't go with the numerical late 00's. I felt like the 2000s were split in two halves rather than the having early, mid, and late periods. 2000 was like an extension of the late 90's/Y2K and 2009 was the beginning of the early 10's culture. So you had the early-to-mid 00's which was from 2001-2004, and then the mid-to-late from 2005-2008.

Thinking the late 2000s didn't exist could be a symptom of existential anxiety. Do you have that?  :o

Yes the late 00s (2007-2009) existed. They were ok years. I graduated in 2008 and I remember it being less crazy like it is now.

It is quite possible they were culture-less.

A very forgettable period. It's the era when most 2000s culture was getting old but we weren't sure what would replace it (kind of like the early 60s)

The early 60s had the folk boom (sometimes known as the "folk scare"). Do not underestimate it.

all i remember is Rihanna and RnB that is all

is that even possible ? how can a time period be cultureless

To me it was a constant, nonstop rolling transition from core 2000's into early 2010's. The only time cultural advancement slowed enough to kinda pinpoint an era was the 07-08 school year I'd say.

Also Chris Brown, T-Pain and other artists that used autotune like Akon, Jay Sean, Sean Kingston, and of course JT, Nelly Furtado, and Timberland. For TV shows like The Office, HIMYM, 30 Rock, Ugly Betty, Heroes, Big Bang Theory, Gossip Girl, Mad Men, and Breaking Bad were popular. Also Gen 7 gaming (XBox 360, PS3, Wii).

Yeah all that, especially Chris Brown, half of that bled into the early 2010s

Late 2006 - Mid 2009

The transition from the old world into the new. In 2008/2009 we stepped into this new world. But we only truly closed the "new world" door behind us in 2011 and then took our shoes off and sat down in the living room in 2013.

What hits did he have though, his last huge hit was "No Air", after that the Rihanna incident went viral and that bubblegum R&B of 05-08 era was done.

Same with Rihanna, she was another who matured in 2008 with Disturbia.

There's a huge difference from 2005-mid 2008 than mid 2008-2011,

Rap was more crunk than autotune, compare Soulja boy, Jim Jones, T.I., etc to T Pain, Lil Wayne etc

Music mainly featured Neyo Justin Timberlake, Timbaland, Chris Brown & Rihanna during teens, compared to post mid 2008 with Lady Gaga, Katy Perry, Lil Wayne, Justin Bieber etc

People still wore baggy pants and long white T's until 2008 when skinny jeans & graphic T's got big.

He wasn’t in the height of era anymore like he was in the mid-late 2000s but he was still popular among teenagers, I would know I was in middle school during that time. His popularity still lingered on around that time
