Subject: 2008 Had Nothing to do With The 2000s

Yeah it was part of the decade. But the culture of 2000s was non-existent this year.

I think at least the first half was still very well in the mid-to-late 2000's culture, while the later part started to feel different with Lady Gaga's debut and the election of Obama. 2009 otoh except for a few remaining traces of the 2000's in the early part, felt disconnected from the decade and more like a part of the early 2010's culturally.

This exactly, around fall-winter-ish is when things started to feel and look different, Obama's election being a good turning point for the late 2000's early 2010's culture.

This is absolutely false. Maybe the end of the core 2000s, but it still felt very 2000s to me with many things that were defining predominately of the late 2000s. The Wii is more of a 2000s console than a 2010s console. YouTube did not have HD yet. Smartphones were JUST starting to take off, and even then, most of them were keyboard phones, which would die out once the 2010s properly started. Bling aesthetics were still common. Ringtone rap was still popular. Emo was declining but not dead completely. Bands like All Time Low, Hey Monday, and Paramore were all popular. Most people were still using Windows XP. Bush was still the president even in spite of the election. Rock was still on the radio. I could go on and on. It was way more 2000s than 2010s.

I agree with this.
