Greatest Summer of the 2000s ? Sound off

It was a tough one between 2000, 2004, and 2005. Each were special in their own way. I ended up picking 2004.

Just curious...is there a reason we are picking summer for this poll rather than some other season? I'm partial to fall myself.

Now I wish I could change my vote to 2005, or 2000. It's really a 3-way tie. I'll just state the reasons why:

2000: I just turned 21 and going out and really enjoying San Diego, including the dating life. Really loved the vibe of that summer. Good music like Jagged Edge, Avant, and Common. Also just started playing Zelda: Ocarina of Time that summer so I associated that game with the memories of that summer.

2004: Road trip to northern California (including Yosemite NP and San Francisco). Also flew to Seattle and drove to Vancouver. Bought my first house. Also lots of good music.

2005: This was the summer of movies (Batman Begins, Star Wars Ep. III, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, War of the Worlds, etc.). Also visiting my family in GA and took a weekend trip to Ensenada, Mexico. Also lots of good music. Also became active on MySpace and posting blogs. I think if I could change my vote it will be to 2005.

Now if it was Fall, it will be 2005 for sure as my Euro Trip in November was the highlight of the year. My entire 2005 was building up to the excitement of that moment.

Now if we were choosing the Christmas/Holiday season it would be 2004. I have fond memories of that time (except for the news of the earthquake/tsunami in South Asia). I especially remember seeing Polar Express and the vibes of that movie.

For Spring, also 2005. Memories of listening to Gwen Stefani's album while driving to Palm Springs for a weekend. Spring of 2000 was good too when I spent a few months in Florida. I remember going out and always hearing "The Thong Song" being played. I also just bought the Nintendo 64 and playing Super Mario 64, Donkey Kong 64, and of course 007: Goldeneye.

2003. I was planning our wedding.  :) Our first granddaughter was born.  :) But, I missed my grandmother's 95th birthday party because we were waiting for the birth.

2000 was the best summer.

2001 was ruined by the end with Aaliyah's death and then 9/11

The summers after were in the post 9/11 world and weren't as epic as 2000.

Here's how I rank all the summers of the 2000's:

1-3 (tie) - 2000, 2004, 2005 (reasons stated earlier)
4 (also close) - 2008 (first summer in Japan, visited Georgia for a week)
5 - 2002 (things started getting better after the post-9/11, good movies like Spider-Man and Minority Report)
6 - 2001 (on deployment and visited Hong Kong, and seeing it in Rush Hour 2)
7 - 2007 (also started to turn around as I wasn't a fan of 2006 and early 2007, but still kind of bland and boring. Some good music and movies)
8 - 2006 (actually the one part of 2006 I kind of liked. Visited GA with my now ex-wife for the first time. Italy wins World Cup)
9 - 2009 (kind of depressing with Michael Jackson's death and going through a divorce)
10 - 2003 (June was good when I visited Georgia, but then things went downhill when I returned to California with one thing after another)
