Subject: The J-horror remake trend 2002-2008

Written By: 90skid93 on 06/08/22 at 6:09 pm

How do we feel about the trend during the 2000s where America remade Japanese horror movies?

The first one to really kick off the trend was the ring in 2002 and there were other J-horror remakes that came out  later  in 2009 and in 2012 but by that point the trend had already died out.

I think the last J-horror remake that came out to actually be a big deal was one missed call which killed the popularity of the trend for how god awful it was.

In my opinion not all the 2000s J-horror remakes were bad some like the Grudge really worked and turned out just as good as the original while others like one missed call did not.

To put this into contrast, I fell asleep when viewing on of the remakes of Godzilla movies.
