Has it aged better over the years?
Personally, I don't blame Sam Raimi for what happened most of the blame goes to Sony.
I did rewatch it recently and while i didn't like it when it first came out i actually think it has aged well despite its shortcomings, but it does still have a lot of problems.

I actually liked that one. Sure it was cringe worthy with "emo Peter", the Sandman, and that one scene when MJ was doing the twist, but I liked the characters played by Topher Grace and Bryce Dallas Howard.

As someone who grew up reading Venom comics and watching the 90s Spider-Man cartoon Topher Grace Venom didn't sit well with me even back then.
