Subject: Copied from CNN..but I'm still curious...

I'm really curious about this...I do think we need to give back Iraq to the Iraqi's..but do you all think that the people would feel safe and secure with him in their custody, or would he still have some supporters that would be scared of him, possibly giving the country back to him?    :-\\

I doubt it.  I think they would give Saddam somewhat of a mock trial and give him the death penalty, which he deserves.  I vote yes.

Give Iraq back to the Iraqis?  What choice to do we have.  We can hang onto it and watch as it siphons away our public largesse!  Maybe we could run it as an imperial client state, but all the current administration knows how to run is their mouths.

Either way, this is gonna cost us an arm and a leg, and we won't get nothin' useful out of the whole bungled effort.

Once the U.S. hands over sovernty to the Iraqis which is SUPPOSED to happen on June 30th, then Suddam (as well as other detainees) is/are no longer concidered POWs. The U.S. either HAS to charge them with a crime or let them go. THAT IS THE LAW!  I say the U.S. should charge all of them and then have them stand trial-an international trial-not just the U.S.-that way we can be sure that justice will be carried out.

Cat got it right.  The talk now is that he will be turned over to Iraqi jurestiction but remain in U.S. custody until they descide what to do with him.  Sounds like an evasion to me.

That sounds like a cue for a parody...

On-topic: the only legal option is that he should be handed back to the Iraqis... but they'd better make damn sure they don't lose him.  A judicial execution might be a bad idea, too - I just hope he dies of natural causes as soon as possible (ideally from syphilis, gout or other media-unfriendly malady)

Just noticed this reference to (I assume) the International Court of Justice.  I wonder how it would look if the U.S. turned him over to them, or brought charges, considering that we don't recognize this court, and consistantly demand immunity from its juristiction (ever wonder why Henry Kissinger never leaves the U.S.?).  An interesting problem.

Just a thought, with all that recent revelation of Sadmans cell groups planted in the US and possible biological threat...do you think before he is handed back to his old country a little "WEST NILE" skeeter might find its way thru the air ducts of the prison?
It's goin' around you know..... :\'(

Does he get to spend the night?  Do they have a king size bed?  The days might be hell, but after the guards are no longer watching... hmmmmm  ;)
