Shucks, we both were posting this thread at the same time!  ::)

Here is my two cents:

I suspect that the "gay angle" was a cover story.  This guy has all sorts of people investigating his fund raising and other alleged improprieties.  Resigning under the cover of homosexuality actually lets him leave office and get lots of sympathy from the liberal crowd.

I mean, heck.  Barney Frank has been in the House of Representatives and he is as gay as you get.

I smell a rat.

He doesn't get any sympathy from me.  I'd rather he stay and duke it out, if that is the real reason.  It isn't like extra-marital affairs are something new on the political scene.  Homosexuality, hey if it was ok for J. Edgar Hoover to run the FBI and be married to his second in command, Clyde Tolson,  I guess it is ok for anyone.

My main man Rep. Barney Frank (D-Mass.) did some unwise things earlier in his career.  IIRC, he had a fling with a pageboy or two in the early '80s.  Then, in the late '80s, a man he was living with was charged with running a gay "escort" ring out of Frank's apartment.  However, Frank stayed on and slugged it out, and he survived.  He has maintained a monogamous relationship for the past 15 years, and he is an excellent legislator.

Frank was always open about his preference--G-A-Y, no doubt about it.  Jim McGreevey, on the other hand, kept his preference a secret and has a wife and child.

I sure wish McGreevey was a conservative Republican, that way he wouldn't be used as a distraction from the real issues by the right-wingers.  Gay marriage is bad enough in that department.

Actually, 2 wives (1 ex- & 1 current) & 2 kids (one by his ex and one by his current)

Methinks I smell a coverup...there's something else going on there...

Prolly is a big coverup.  If there isn't, the Republicans will find a molehill to make a mountain out of...

Now, THAT'S a scary thought.  Heck the thought of a WOMAN having sex with him is bad enough :o ;)

What?  You don't find Kerry's Herman Munster good looks irresistable?  What about doll-face Edwards?

Right-wing pund Laura Ingraham has a nickname for Rumsfeld,  "Cutie-pie."  You gotta admit old Don is a HUNK!

I agree.

I can say this, secure in my heterosexuality, that Rummy is a hunk.  :P

We have a winner!  ;D

Turns out he is not resigning because he is gay.  Turns out he is resigning because his gay partner is also the same guy that he gave a $110,000/year job, for which it was determined he was not qualified to do.

The job that the guy was given was to be a "Homeland Security Advisor".  But because he was not a citizen of the USA, none of the federal agencies would share info with him.  Also it appears that the only "qualification" that he has is that he was a veteran of the Israeli army.  (In addition to sleeping with the Governor).

Apparently his "squeeze" threatened to go public and file a Sexual harassment suit unless the Guv shelled out some bucks.

By going public about his homosexuality, he would have defused the "shock value".  But because it turns out that the Guv gave his lover a huge job for which he was clearly not qualified, he now be in big trouble.

The issue of the cushy job was already public knowledge.  What WASN'T know was why the job was, ahem, "awarded".  Now we know, and thus the resignation.

The Republicans are really taking the high road on this one: homophobia.  It never would have occurred to me that anything Kerry and Edwards were doing could be construed as gay behavior, but then again, those of us comfortable with our own sexual identities don't obsess over such things.

Ah, yes.  The old "If you are gay you are gay.  If you are anti-gay you are also gay" argument.

Of course we know that liberals who make that comment are really insecure with their political identity and are really leaning towards the far right.  :P

Back to the original thread, now the other guy in question is saying he isn't gay, never had an affair,  the Govenor was sexually harassing him, and he wasn't going to expose him, that the Govenor is slandering him by saying he was going to.  It gets better every minute. :D

A collection of dirt-bags accusing each other of dastardly deeds.  ::)

I can't believe Leno would read such a bad joke, let alone pay someone who write such a bad joke.
I mean, I don't care at whose expense the joke is, it needs to be funny, that's all!
