Well, I did sign the petition (is there more than one?). We are lucky because we don't have any of their stations in our area-at least not yet. This is why we need limitations on media ownership. If the neo-cons had their way, I'm sure Sinclair or Murdock would probably own ALL stations in the U.S.

BTW-YOU GO HAIRSPRAY!!!! ;D ;D ;D

Please check out all of the links above. The more petitions we sign, the more we participate, the better it will be for all of us. It feels good to make a difference. :)

Aww, thanks Cat.  :)

As much as I appreciate your nice thoughts, I want to clarify that I have developed a great passion to help do what is right, especially in such obvious wrongdoing situations such as media companies which have an obligation to provide the public with unbiased information, but calculatingly sponsor partisan politics, betraying our public trust.

That's just wrong. >:(

Signed, although I doubt these petitions will have any effect on the airing of this Kerry slam.  Heck, petitions couldn't even persuade George Lucas to release the unmolested version of the original Star Wars trilogy on DVD...um, uh...yeah...

  Keep grooving, all...

Chin-up, Davester. :) We all do what we can. At least we can say that much.

Right on!  There's a Sinclaire affiiate in Springfield, Mass., near me.  The boycott is the best recourse if the the FCC won't do it's d*mned job!  I bet they'd interfere if Sinclaire was a bunch of libs who were gonna run a Michael Moore marathon on election eve.  Punks!  I'd like to air drop ten tons of chicken doodie all over them!

I have had this sent to me by three unconnected parties.  Obviously this is going somewhere.
I'm in! ;)

BTW, don't they own gas stations too ???  I know there's one by my in-laws, which I've never gone to anyway because their gas SUCKS!!!

Sinclair Oil and Sinclair Broadcasting are two separate entities.  If Sinclair Oil is publicly traded, I can't pin down it's stock symbol.

Kerry is now requesting equal time.

The article doesn't mention that Michael Moore has offered Sinclair Fairenheit 9/11 FOR FREE but I doubt that will happen.

Sinclair has offered John Kerry time; they would like to ask him some tough questions about his service in Vietnam. However, they have no intention of asking the producers of Stolen Honor tough questions about historical inaccuracies and the cinematic-editorial decisions that contribute to them.

The big gamble of Stolen Honor is that people won't bother to look any deeper. While I can't claim a universal principle, something does seem rather odd to me about the idea of banking on ignorance and apathy as one's greatest argumentative, historical, and academic credibility.

I just got this e-mail from moveon.org. This is one way to counter Sinclair.

Dear MoveOn Students,

On Thursday we turned to MoveOn Student Action members to counter Sinclair Broadcasting’s illegal smear campaign against John Kerry. Our goal was to hold 150 public screenings of Going Upriver, the powerful documentary about John Kerry and the heroism of another generation faced with an unjust war.

You blew that goal away. In the first 24 hours you've already scheduled over 200 screenings on campuses from Gainsville, Florida to Walla Walla Washington. Because of the overwhelming response we've decided to more than double our goal and make an additional 200 DVD's available free of charge for screenings starting this Thursday.

To get the DVD’s to you in time, our warehouse needs your address by 11:59 pm Pacific Standard Time on Sunday night – 24 hours and counting.

http://www.moveonstudentaction.org/events

Going Upriver is the perfect answer to all the partisan hack jobs attacking John Kerry’s service in Vietnam. But it only begins with his time on the swift boat. The real story is about John Kerry and thousands of other veterans and students rising up together to end an unjust war. It took tremendous courage, persistence and sincerity to fight for the country they believed in and the lives they knew they could save. These are the same qualities we must draw upon today.

You can host a screening anywhere from an auditorium or theater, to your dorm or apartment lounge - anywhere where you can play a DVD, gather with friends, and have a good discussion. We provide everything you need, including a step-by-step guide with sample promotional materials, discussion questions, even sign up sheets.

The screening is just the beginning. A new war without a visible end and a new President who refuses to admit the truth have pushed us towards a new national draft. After the film we’ll be laying out the facts and discussing what lessons we can learn from the parallel between Vietnam and Iraq.

We're also organizing national call-ins to local Sinclair Broadcasting Group affiliates to demand that they set the record straight by at least airing Going Upriver alongside the right wing smear piece “Stolen Honor”. At the moment, Sinclair is still planning on forcing all 62 of their network affiliates to show “Stolen Honor,” but pressure is mounting very rapidly for equal time, and our calls could help tip the balance.

To set up your screening and request your free DVD, just go to:

Thanks for all that you do,

- Meighan, Paul, Manasee, Ben, Noah

I'm going to change the topic a slight bit.  I wonder how many people have been to "The Wall"?  Here is some info about it.  It begins and ends with relatively small panals with only a few names.  It is arranged chronologically.  About half way down you come to the point that LBJ was about ready to make peace, but was sabotaged by Henry Kissinger, who met with the South Vietnamese in France (this is on film) and informed them that Nixon would cut them a better deal (just before the Nixon/Humphrey election).  The  south pulled out and the war went on for 5 more years or so.  In other words, half the names on that wall, not to mention the thousands of Vietnamese, were sacrificed to the vanity and ambition of one man, Dr Kissinger.  No wonder the US refuses to recognize the International Court of Justice, and that Henry the K will not travel abroad.  Check out Christopher Hitchens' book The Trial of Henry Kissinger and a film base on the book for background on that illegal and immoral war.
