Subject: Bush Adminstration Pay a Pundit Program

So the Administration paid Armstrong Williams $260,000 to promote the "No Child" bill, and paid through
his broadcasting agency figuring  that all this would be undercover. Williams did promote it under
the quise of  fair and balanced reporting.  I would say that this is not an anomaly and there are more
of these fair and balanced guys out there on the take.  Doesn't this all smack of Rove? Paid propoganda dressed up as opinion.  Williams should be drummed out.

For some reason your link to the Armstrong Williams story isn't active.  Here's are two links from the most excellent site Media Matters for America--
http://mediamatters.org/items/200501070012

http://mediamatters.org/items/200501070009

Uncle Tomstrong Williams said over and over again he's sorry and he regrets what he did.  He says he didn't mean no harm.

Can you imagine what the right-wingers would be saying if, say, Larry King got caught taking money from the DNC for on-air promotion of Democratic legislation?  Whoa-ho-ho-ho!  Loookeee out!  You'd never hear the end of it from O'Reilly, Limbaugh, Hannity and the rest of those bozos.

And why are they paying a right-wing radio host to pump the Republican agenda?  That's like paying a fish to swim.

Anyway, because it's a right-winger getting paid off by right-wingers, this story will only survive on Air America and Williams wil keep going his merry way.  Just remember what would have happened if a pundit was getting paid off by the Dems.  Some liberal media, eh?

I hope you are wrong on this one.  Seems like lots of "high crimes and misdomeaners" here.  I'm e-mailing Pat, Jim, and Bernie encouraging them to demand an investigation.  Sounds like a real scandal to me.

Once again, the right-wing of this message board has not responded. It must be really tough to go through life with blinders on.

If ArmWrong Williams just had one of those fast-spoken disclaimers at the beginning of the NCLB segments, I don't think it would have bothered any of his listeners.

This is the best the left can do?  A story that has been pulled, and two links to the same "Progressive" (aka: Socialist) organization. Lets not forget all the scandals a former left wing president was involved in.  Oh and that far left senator and his big scandal. What was his name?

My point is  both sides are involved in scandals. A scandal around the No Child Left Behind bill is hardley goning to draw any attention. Nobody cares about no child left behind. It is just not a hot-button issue.  it might as well have been a scandel about Bush paying Nintendo $250,000 to send him an early copy of the new Pokemon game. That is how worthless this "Scandal" is.

Not quite.  Seems some members of Congress are concerned about the admin violating laws against "propoganda".  Like I said, "high crimes and misdomeanors".  Check out the link.

...and the right has offered up a president who lies about the presence of WMDs in a foreign country to justify an invasion, yet there's no scandal or impeachment talk. He authorizes torture of prisoners. Do you need us to go on?  Stay in the present, if you have to resort to Clinton to support your points, you're stretching.

HUH?

Lets not forget all the scandals a former left wing president was involved in.  Oh and that far left senator and his big scandal. What was his name?

And it seems that best the right can do whenever there is something about Dubya, is to bring up a former administration.

It has nothing to do with the bill itself but the fact that he was PAID to promote an agenda without disclosing the fact that he was indeed paid to do so. As for NCLB, this bill is a total disgrace to education but that is for another thread.

Alright Chuck, where is your proof that Bush lied? So what if he authorized the use of torture, I have no problem with that (you don't think they would of used it on us?).  My point was that this "Scandal" was minor compaired to some others that have gone on.

Minor, yes, but the devil is in the details.  If jones had disclosed his receipt of money from the
government it would have been one thing, but he didn't.  The line has become to fine between
what is news, journalism, opinion and propaganda. it is time we all started paying attention to the
incestuous relationship media and government.  The pen is mightier than the sword, misinformation
is more dangerous than a bomb.

Sometimes evan these right wing tdeologues can't defend the indefencible.  GW is often silent when he can't quote Limbaugh, Hannity or O'Riley.
