Subject: Pope JP2 - Final Thoughts

Written By: LyricBoy on 04/10/05 at 3:30 pm

There's been alot of stuff posted here in the past week or so.  So herein I shall make the last of my posts regarding the life and times of John Paul 2.

Perhaps the most amazing aspect of this great man is that he instigated the overthrow of the Communist regimes...

-Without assembling "religious militias"...

-Without issuing a death "fatwa" upon anybody...

-Without advocating racist/inflammatory "settlements" in disputed territories...

-Without recruiting suicide bombers...

-Without firing a shot...

In fact, he admonished catholic terrorists in Ireland to stop their sinful activity and he gave them no comfort.

But he did have an "army" of 1.1 BILLION followers, many of whom did battle for humanity under the leadership of JP2.

What a man and what an approach.  His consistent respect for the sanctity of life formed the core of his approach to the world stage and it was hugely successful, though not perfect of course.

Meanwhile, we see leaders of other religions who advocate all sorts of mayhem and violence, and they have become mired in more violence.

JP2 did it right.   :)

Agreed.  The pen and the pulpet are mightier than the sword in the long run.  I wonder when ANY of our presidents will learn this lesson.
