Subject: Downing St Memo: Where's the "liberal" media?

Written By: Im Batman on 05/27/05 at 1:55 pm

On May 1st, the London Sunday Times published  a formerly secret memo PROVING that the Bush administration "fixed the facts" to justify their invasion of Iraq.

This was proof that Bush was guilty of impeachable actions.

While this was a top news story around the world--except in the US--our mainstream media abdicated it's watchdog role to oversaturate us with following important stories

---Laura Bush makes a joke about her husband masterbating a horse.

---The Runaway Bride says she's sorry.

---Paula Abdul claims she did not have an affair with an American Idol contestant.

---Mary Kay Letourneau's wedding is revealed with details of how the child molester and her boy toy became man and wife

---Desperate Houswives ends its season with a shocker.  Many Americans are disapointed.

Finally, when the Downing Street Memo can no longer be ignored, it is burried in most US newspapers behind the obituaries of the gardening section.

You know Bush and Karl Rove were giving each other high fives in the Oval Office on this one.

And still, conservatives would have us believe, that even though they controll all aspects of power in this country, talk radio, and even have their own "news" network, they still claim to be under siege from a non-existent liberal media.

The fact that Republican talking heads still put out this lie to their followers, really gives you an idea of how little they think of their supporters ability to think for themselves.

doesn't seem to be a trace of it on the netscape news page - this was the first that came up with a google search.

Here, here, I agree!  As Eric Alterman titled his book, "What Liberal Media?"
Regarding Laura Bush, I think the joke was about Georgie confusing a cow and a bull.  The horse joke was from "The Daily Show," I believe.

The great journalist H.L. Menken once said that it was the role of the press "to confort the afflicted and afflict the comfortable".  How far we have fallen from his standard of journalism in a "free" country. "Liberal media" my azz.

The press has taken its cue from the politics du jour: comfort the comfortable, afflict the afflicted.
The White House press corps are a bunch of servile yes-men brown-nosers to the Republican party and the Corporate elite.  Menken would spit on them!  I mean, Menken would have despised the Clinton every bit as much, but at least he'd be consistant!

Yes, and the lap dog main stream media isn't enough for the neofacists, they need to hire a gay male escort by night and Repub toody by day to ask questions at "news briefings" (read propoganda sessions).  Strang that our conservative friends ignore this thread, or not.
