Subject: The Broken Promises of George W. Bush - The Undeniable Facts

Written By: Hairspray on 11/02/05 at 11:37 pm

Just came across this and thought it an interesting read and definitely a topic to spark passionate discussion, as we have those who are staunch supporters of Bush who will undoubtedly have some very interesting arguments.

Rhetoric vs. Reality

President Bush made a lot of promises during his 2000 presidential campaign. The record shows it was all talk.

Well, Hairspray, since he didn't really win the 2000 election, he doesn't have to really keep his campaign promises, now does he?

The one that gets me (which isn't in the article) is, "I'm a uniter, not a divider" and this country is more divided than I have seen it in my entire life. Even more divided than it was during the Viet Nam War.

You're absolutely correct. This nation has entered what the government textbooks are calling it's sixth party system. In all of the five other systems we've had in our 200+ years, each has featured a party which was clearly dominant. Today's party system is unique in that support for either party is split right down the middle, 50/50.
