We already have newspapers all over the country printing information that is not nessicarily true, or is slanted to favor one sode over another.

It is called an Editorial.

And here is another bit of information:  Every news source is slanted to one degree or another.  True unbiased news reporting is a lie, up there with the Easter Bunny, Perpetual Motion, and Absolute Zero.

I didn't hear about bribes, I heard that the US OWNED a newspaper and a TV station there ???

We probably do, but this is different.

Of course there is no such thing as unbias reporting, and the current charges have nothing to do with editorials.  Like any other institution, the military has every right to issue press releases, which of course would be lauditory, but bribing the media to use them is, it seems to me, akin to soliciting prostitution, and certainly subverts a free press.

The U.S. military shouldn't have to bribe Iraqi newspapers.  They should take a cue from other occupying armies, the Romans for instance.  Now they knew how to occupy other countries!  If some Middle Eastern upstarts badmouthed the empire, they'd be strung up on crosses and left for the vultures!  Yeah, that's what happens when you rip on Caeser!
