Nope, no pork.
Why do so many people want a man to have a last meal that is against the rules of his religion?  I may not like the man (I loathe him), but he still has the right to "meet his maker" in a "state of grace" (or whatever term Msulims use for the concept).

Myself, I would suggest something from Taco Bell, but that would fall under "cruel and unusual punishment".

Which is why it was probably listed. I put pork products for the same reason. Failing that, they can at least cook his food with some pork lard or something, since playing with filthy swine or ingesting it sends them to hell automatically.

Oh wait....he's going to hell anyways! Nevermind.

Very similar to Jewish dietary laws. However, about the cheeseburger-is there meat in one? Also is there actually dairy in the cheese? I thought most cheeses made today were basically made out of oil and who knows what else. And who knows what you fine in the burger part. (Mystery meat?)  :P

There was the case of the condemned man who got indigestion from his last meal and asked for Alka Seltzer at a quarter to midnight.  "Oh, we got something that'll clear that up even quicker!"

(Well, since nobody else has mentioned it yet... cue the Ren and Stimpy video...)

The Lord loves a hangin'!  That's why he gave us necks!
It tightens up our vocal cords and loosens up our pecs!
Get busted for a genocide, be guilty to the bone,
Then start a civil war, and then you'll hang alone!

It may be hard to swaller, but you'll be three feet taller.
It's a dandy way to entertain your friends.
You say you are a villain, and did your share of killin',
Who'd have thought you'd swing fer gassin' Kurds?

Oh, Lord loves a hangin', and so do we, by heck;
When the ball in New York drops, we decorate your neck.
You do not make the Super Bowl, you've 30 hours to go,
(The FCC would not allow... it on the halftime show!)

i for one am completely indifferent to hussein's execution. it won't solve anything, it'll probably just stoke up more warfare, and this idea that the state killing people solves anything is just... primitive. it's funny how conservatives always talk about small government but they actually are okay with the state having power over life and death, which really is best left to god.

i'm sure they're just trying everything they can think of to try and woo the public. can't say i blame em, their situation appears a bit desperate. although if hussein's execution backfires by stirring up a big S-storm over there they might regret not having dragged the trial out for a few more years. i don't think they'll get much benefit from it, but they do stand to lose quite a bit more face if it doesn't go smoothly.

I agree. I think this whole thing is a fiasco. I really think that he was tried by a kangroo court. If they really wanted justice to be served, they should have went with a U.N. trial. I will have no love loss when he is no longer on this Earth, but I am so afraid of the repercussion that this is going to bring. But what has seem to be forgotten is that the U.S. had a lot to do with his crimes against humanity (just like they did with Pinochet). This will just be another excuse for some to hate the U.S.

Toppling Saddam and destabilizing the factions in Iraq already brought on the S that was going to storm.  I predict Saddam's Sunni loyalists will raise hell, but this isn't going to make much difference on the long run.

Saddanm's brutality was maintenance brutality.  He suppressed dissent and killed uppity folks.  He was more like Yugoslavia's Marshal Tito.  The next big boss in Baghdad is going to be even nastier than Saddam.  His brutality will consist of the atrocities and terror it will take to force unity among the unwilling.  That means a lot of blood and death.  If the next head honcho is "successful" like Saddam, Iraqi society might return to what it was in the 1980s.  Sorry to say that's the best we can hope for.  If he is not "successful," he will get toppled, and the chaos will reign until a stong enough strongman asserts himself.

History books will sum up the accomplishments of the Gulf War II in two words: Jack sh*t!

I notice four years ago the TV pundits were all ra-ra for Bush.  MSNBC even fired Phil Donahue as a pre-emptive strike against on-air dissent!  (Then they hired Keith Olbermann. D'oh!).  Now even creeps like Joe Scarborough and Mike Barnicle have turned against Dubya.

The only channel where you'll find pundits cheerleading for Bush is FOX News.  I admire their loyalty.  They'll stay in the tank for Bush even if it makes them the laughing stock in the end.  Bill O'Reilly is still scoffing at Air America's bankruptcy.  Keep gloating, Bill!   Depending on what happens in the next two years, FOX could go belly up!

They all claim to be impartial, but they aren't.  Even when they come close to criticising bush it ends with "but the liberals"  this or "but the dems" that.

We watch him from time to time just to see what idiotic thing he is going to say next. We noticed that at the end of his show, he can't say, "The spin stops here" with a streight face. He really should by saying, "The spin STARTS here". Interesting enough, we were watching his show last night and he is on vacation. I don't know who the guy was filling in for him but he was TRYING to be O'Reilly. On CNN whenever someone goes on vacation, whoever is filling in for them does not try to act like the person they are filling in for-they are just themselves.

Did you guys hear or read that farewell letter Saddam wrote?  Sounded so unlike him, like he was trying to buy a good seat on the ark at the last minute.

I think if you were in his shoes you'd be doing the same thing too.  This was to be expected.

John Kasich, former Republican congressman from Ohio (I think).  Anyway, he's a p-rick.  He also does his own FOX show on Saturday night called, "Heartland."  You know where the "Heartland" is?  Wherever Republicans outnumber Democrats.  I think FOX is going down the tubes.  The political temper of the country might be changing.  I'm not saying the operation will fold, it just might recede to the backwaters of cable news with CNBC!

Maybe we in the Boston area can hope the the likes of Jay Severin will be shown the door permanently.  They got rid of him for a while, but brought him back and he has even moved into the state.  Before he was blasting Massachusetts while living on Long Island.  His tone has gotten even more strident, like he is trying to hang on to a glass of water, without the glass.

warning: off topic rant.
Jay Severin is proof of right wing media bias.  Can you imagine Severin's exact opposite on WTKK every afternoon.  What would he say?
"Kill those capitalist scumbags!"
"All Republicans are Nazis!"
"Death to Christians!"
How long would that last.  Oh, about one afternoon I'd say.  Yet Severin has been on the air for ten years!  In that time he is declared all Democrats are communists, that he wants less "Afro-Chicano" presence in American culture, that America should bomb the Middle East until there is no one left to complain, that U.S. Muslims should be exterminated because they are a fifth column.  Severin is a white supremicist who claims to be a libertarian, as is so often the way.  I think Severin remains on Long Island because there are too many people in Boston who would like to kill him.  I do not share this sentiment, but you can understand why folks get enraged enough to threaten his life.

Howie Carr, the Boston Rush Limbaugh, lives in Wellesley.  He cannot go safely into certain areas of greater Boston.  He private parking and security escorts because he gets so many threats.  Incidentally, I know one of Carr's daughters.  She can't stand him.  She is everything that he is not.  I wish nobody threatened Howie either, but when he tells Latino callers, "Go back to the Third World hell-hole you came from," well, a lot of people ain't gonna take to kindly!  Yes, hate speech is alive and sick in Boston!

Severin is definitely worse than Carr.  At least Howie has a sense of humor!  Jay is pure hatred.  Well, he loves his dogs and he loves blondes.  So did Hitler!
::)
I haven't heard Severin in quite a while, but after last Election Day I imagine he sounds like Hitler after the fall of Berlin.  I keep thinking of Anthony Hopkins' portrayal of Hitler in "The Bunker."  Something like that.
