A friend sent me this petition today -- I signed it, because I want to see NPR and PBS survive and thrive.

The Republicans still have a knee-jerk impulse to attack and destroy public broadcasting even though both PBS and NPR fall right in line with the mainstream political establishment.  The idea that public broadcasting is a taxpayer-funded Marxist-Leninist fifth column is utter nonsense.  They're not FOX News, but they've certainly become meek and docile over the past 20 years!

I'm not too thrilled with CPB, but I signed the petition.

The big worry is if the country goes back to being as liberal as it was in the late '70s, public broadcasting may go back to serving the public interest, rather than cheerleading for Wall Street!

I have to sign.  PBS is the only place where I can see "Are You Being Served?"  AND "As Time Goes By."  Not to mention "Morning Edition" on NPR.

Oh wow, gotta pay for the war somehow. Who really cares about educational programming anyway? Obviously Bush wouldn't be concerned with anything educational. The war's more important.  ::)

Definitely, gotta do it!  I say we defund 100% of federal funds for public broadcasting.  That'll pay for a whole six hours in Iraq!

How can you say that Bush wouldn't care?  He's a very self-edumacating man!  Didn't you see him tell Brian Williams he "read three Shakespeares" last summer?

I know it has been a while since I was in school but I don't believe Shakespeare wrote "My Pet Goat".
