Subject: Re: Can someone explain U.S.'s foreign policies to me?

Written By: Foo Bar on 11/06/07 at 1:37 am

I want to be informed like Morrissey.

I'd like to have a beautiful car like the Aztek, the sexual magnetism of Al Bundy, and the structural integrity of the Titanic...

Try for the opposite of "vapid celebrity that nobody would pay attention for if it wasn't for musical talent".

Pick a few Republican blogs.  Pick a few Democratic blogs.  Pick a few Establishment sources, like the business press.  Pick a few non-Establishment sources, and you'll find plenty of those from the first three.  Read each of them, daily, for a few months.  Don't trust anything written on either of them.  Just take notes about what issues get discussed on each side's blog, and the arguments each side uses.  The human brain is an amazing pattern-matching machine.  It'll take care of the rest.

What is this thread about?

It was something about american politics I read the question last night He wanted to be better informed about the political climate in the US, the question rather general tho and too difficult to answer effectively...

Its like those people who say tell me about the 70s there are so many aspects to you- you have to pinpoint what you want to know otherwise the responses are all over the board.

It seems to be find out who has something you want (i.e. oil) and then invade that country.

Likes to be thought of as the international policeman but gets it wrong - a lot.  Goes around telling countries what to do but ignores their own advice.

My daughter said that several children in her class asked the teacher why the US didn't invade the country that was causing global warming.  He pointed out that the army would have to invade the US!

:)

And lectures the rest of the world about democracy, while having one of the worst implementations (and most despised politicians)

Plus the people in power in the US haven't accepted the premise of global warming... (not that I am in total disagreement here; but that's for another thread, methinks)
