CLINTON STAFFERS CIRCULATE 'DRESSED' OBAMA

With a week to go until the Texas and Ohio primaries, stressed Clinton staffers circulated a photo over the weekend of a "dressed" Barack Obama.

The photo, taken in 2006, shows the Democrat frontrunner fitted as a Somali Elder, during his visit to Wajir, a rural area in northeastern Kenya.

The senator was on a five-country tour of Africa.

"Wouldn't we be seeing this on the cover of every magazine if it were HRC?" questioned one campaign staffer, in an email obtained by the DRUDGE REPORT.

In December, the campaign asked one of its volunteer county coordinators in Iowa to step down after the person forwarded an e-mail falsely stating that Barack Obama is a Muslim.

Obama campaign manager David Plouffe quickly accused the Clinton campaign Monday of 'shameful offensive fear-mongering' for circulating the snap.

Clinton campaign manager Maggie Williams responds: "If Barack Obama's campaign wants to suggest that a photo of him wearing traditional Somali clothing is divisive, they should be ashamed."


they key part to visiting Drudge is to see Bush and Hillary dressed up in local garments much like Obama did.  I think Janus would be a better middle name than Rodham myself.

IF and I do stress IF the story is true, then I think Hilary has shot herself in the foot. As she is trailing more and more behind, she is basically grasping at straws. And I think everyone is tired of dirty politics. Of course it could be the Repubs trying to hurt Hilary's campaign-but why would they do that? I would think the Repubs would rather have a battle against Hilary than Barack in Nov.

it actually seems like it could be the republicans trying to hurt obama. they seem to be dying for a hillary nomination, and are interfering more in the democratic primary process than they usually do. i remember months ago reading that republicans were begging to run against hillary. against obama they're gonna get creamed and they know it.

But that's what's so confusing about this. It's so obviously bogus that it plays against Hillary and into Obama's hands. Rove was plenty evil enough, but he was also smarter than that. 

I'm giving p=0.5 that it's from Hillary's campaign, borne out of desperation and self-delusion that it might work, and that they have nothing to lose at this point.  The remaining 0.5 probability is split 60/40:  p=0.3 to "If Obama gets the nom, the 'pubs are as desperate as Hillary, and with Rove out due to the overplaying of his hand, they're floating this as a trial balloon against Obama as the presumed nominee", and p=0.2 to "Obama's campaign managers did it themselves, because it's so completely unlike their current strategy that nobody'll expect it, and who cares whether Hillary or McCain get blamed for it!"

Yeah, Hilary seems like the likely candidate but she is smarter than that-knowing that all this nit picky stuff will only come back at her. Drudge never was a journalist.  He's a catty gift shop cashier who figured out how to use the Internet to hurt people.  At that he's not the first nor last, but the most effective.  But he's no journalist.  It's funny how the Right maligns the New York Times for every possible misstep in journalistic ethics, but their principal source of scoops is Drudge.

He wouldn't be electable by a vast swath of the midwest.  Not in a million years.

There were plenty of good presidents who were Christian as well, but by the above reasoning I guess one bad one now means we shouldn't elect another Christian president?

What i was getting at is that it's always better to not give too much importance to religion when it comes to politics. State and Church(every religion) should be completely separated. If a President is very open about his faith and uses religious arguments to defend his policies then democracy is tainted. Just because the majority of americans say they are Christians i don't think of the US as a Christian country,democracy has rules that can't be applied to religion and vice versa,if not  then america it would be like any other Muslim Country that practices the sharia.

I will agree with that standpoint. Why? Many popes were that way with Christianity and many kings did this too. Louis XIV of France was the worst king in France ever, but who got the blame...? Louis XVI. But many people praise Louis XIV calling him "The Sun King".

Well, no...Lincoln would wasn't a die-hard Christian, Washington and Jefferson weren't either.  You have stated that you think Lincoln was one of the worst presidents, but this is fundamental knowledge to anyone who has a grasp on him and his administration.

Popes did not have as much political power as they would have liked, in some cases wishing to take the place of a Monarchy.  I also don't think that Monarchs were too concerned with religion and power after Henry 8th.  He taught rulers of the world how to thumb and nose Christianity and still remain in power.

Lincoln was a casual Christian, he wasn't much of a church goer.  Washington and Jefferson were deist.
