Man Tasered Nine Times, Dies....Cop MAY Be Charged

Yeah, MAY be charged.  Not GOING TO be charged, but MAY be charged.  From the sound of the crap that is going on in that town, I doubt it.  Ugh, I'm too disgusted by the whole damned story.

According to the article, handcuffed too.  Slow to follow orders to get up, so he was killed...

I can't believe police officers can so routinely manage to reduce their credibility even further...

The coroner has ruled the death a homicide - what else needs to be investigated before charges are brought against the ex-officer?

Well, maybe Scooter Pikes should have thought about the consequences of actions...

Sorry, I was just Bill O'Reilly for a minute there.

The public's gradual acceptance of torture and arbitrary killing by the military and police is a benchmark of impending fascism.

Well, cops do this crap sometimes.  About nine years ago a family friend, Robert Woodward, was killed by cops in the Brattleboro Unitarian Church.  Woody was in the church begging for sanctuary and pointing a small knife at himself.  Woody was a mellow guy.  What happened? We'll never really know.  Perhaps he had a psychotic break or got into some bad drugs.  The cops came barging in there a couple of rookies shot Woody dead.  They yelled, "Drop the weapon! Drop the weapon!"  Witnesses said they then just open fire on Woody who was pointing the knife at no one but himself.  They also shot him in the back after he was on the floor wounded three times!  If you give some of these cops so much a nightstick, they'll use it to cave skulls in!

I remember the Woody incident.  The cops got off scott free.  This latest outrage is worse, not even the slightest doubt about the guy not being a danger.

Definitely worse.  The whole frikkin' idea behind tasers is to deliver incapacitating but non-lethal force.  Fry 'em, don't die 'em!

Louisiana seems like a remarkably corrupt state.  They seem to serve only one purpose to the rest of the country -- they run a very important port at the mouth of the Mississippi river.  They also have some oil refineries.  Maybe we should build more refineries there -- then, they'd actually be more useful.

Uh...yeah...corrupt and increasingly inept.  Huey died a Long time ago.  I would not rely on Louisiana to get its spaghetti together after a catastrophe like Katrina.

Ex-officer?  You mean the cop was fired as opposed to placed on paid vacatio*cough*administrative leave with pay?

As a child, I was brought up to believe that no matter how lost or scared I might be, a policeman was the one stranger I could always trust.  And as an adult, in every interaction I've had with the police, the police have been upright and professional.  I've got relatives in law enforcement.  (The older ones are more scared of the new guys on the force than I am, and as a civilian, that's what really scares me.)

And yet, it's the fact that the one bad cop out of a hundred (because he'll have the support of the 99 otherwise-good cops who'll simply turn a blind eye to his abuse) can kick my ass and get away with it, means I regard all of 'em with suspicion and fear.

Depressing.  But then, it wouldn't be much of a police state if the citizens didn't fear the police, would it?

My Uncle was a cop in DC.  He was gunned down by a drug dealer while trying to make a bust.  Since I was 7,  I was told he was a decent man that treated everyone fair.  I later found out that he almost beat a guy to death because he wasn't responding fast enough to questions.  My brother has also mentioned that he had the attitude that he and his buddies were the only law.  My uncle was never charged for that assault, and my aunt still proudly shows people the belly club that still has the poor guy's blood on it.

Most cops have been grand prixx to me no matter how polite I've been.  Maybe they're necessary, but I've always found police officers disagreeable.  And yes, at least around here, some of the kids police forces recruit out of the academies are psycho.

If we didn't let the legislature pass so many laws dictating our personal behavior, there would be fewer reasons to fear the police!

That's because part of police training is learning how to be an obnoxious prick.  It's based on the notion if you're nice they won't respect your authority.  The Germans that lived under Hitler's dictatorship complained about the Gestapo the same way some complain about cops in America.  Dare I say, the U.S. reeks of fascism.

The case is in the hands of a grand jury now, who will decide whether or not the asshole will be charged.  If he is charged, I'll be shocked as hell. ::)

Not only that- Paul is dead, or so the song Elenor Rigby states . . . backwards.
